Added device driver:
T160.SYS Driver for the Trantor T160 and T260 SCSI adapter
May, 1993
This NT beta driver release has been tested with the March Beta
Disc. It may also work with later releases of Windows NT.
NOTE: These are BETA level drivers for a BETA level operating system.
If your life depends on flawless operation of your computer, you
shouldn't be using BETA level software.
These drivers are beta versions and support is provided via the Trantor
BBS and the WINNT Forum on Compuserve. Please do not call our regular
Tech Support voice line for help... we are not prepared for phone
support for beta releases of NT. If you have any bug reports, please
send them to Trantor by FAX, BBS, or email.
T13B.SYS Driver for the Trantor T130 SCSI adapter
T128.SYS Driver for the Trantor T128 and T228 SCSI adapters
Note: these drivers are already on the WINNT CD disc and can not be
installed directly from the NT installation program. If you want
to install them over the drivers you already have, you will need to
copy them manually to your NT directory.
T358.SYS Driver for the Trantor T358 MiniSCSI EPP adapter
T348.SYS Driver for the Trantor T348 MiniSCSI Plus adapter
T338.SYS Driver for the Trantor T338 MiniSCSI adapter
Currently, these are the only Trantor SCSI host adapters that are
supported under Windows NT. There are no plans to support the older
T100 adapter.
NOTE: The Trantor driver interfaces the Trantor SCSI adapter to the NT
system, it does NOT support SCSI devices directly! Support for SCSI
devices is supplied by Microsoft as part of Windows NT.

Release version ***

TRANTOR NT SCSI MINIPORT INSTALLATION
Copy all the files in this archive to a floppy disk. This is now your
OEM Setup Disk.
To install using trantor cards other than those on the NT boot disk
(T128, T13B), use this OEM setup disk.
Select custom install from the NT Setup program, and insert
this disk when prompted.
The T128 and T13B drivers on this disk cannot be used for installation.
One must install with the drivers provided on the NT Setup disk for these
cards. NT will discover the T128 and T13B cards with the drivers on its
setup disk before allowing us to use these drivers.
These drivers can be copied over the the drivers on the hard disk after
the installation is complete. The path to copy these drivers to is
probably c:\winnt\system32\drivers, but will vary depending on the
installation path.
Installation of the T338 or T348 as a Secondary adapter
With this driver release it is assumed that you will be using the
Trantor SCSI adapter as a secondary adapter in your system. In other
words, the hard drive you boot from will not be connected to a Trantor
SCSI card. You should have installed Windows NT on your computer, using
the installation for non-supported CD-ROM drives since the Trantor NT
drivers for the MiniSCSI series are not already on the WINNT
distribution disc. T128 and T130 drivers are already on the NT
distribution disc and will install automatically.
If you are installing a T128/T228 or a T130 SCSI adapter, make sure you
have it jumpered for INTERRUPT 5 (IRQ 5) for the installation... this is
the WINNT software driver default. You can also select IRQ 7 or 3 after
installation if you like. The T348 MiniSCSI Plus reserves IRQ 15 by
default. T128 jumper settings are detailed later in this file.
Sample INI files for different IRQ settings are on this distribution
disk. They must be installed in a "DEVICE" subdirectory under
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\ as explained in
the NT documentation if you want to change the default IRQ for the card.
Using Regedit
To create the Registry entries, use Regedit to open branches to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services
Chose the Edit/Add Key and add T128 (for example).
Select the T128 folder and chose Edit/Add Key and enter the Type key,
then choose Edit/Add Value and enter the REG_DWORD:0x1
Continue this method to enter all the values in the sample .INI file.
If you get confused, you can just copy what is already in the Adaptec
folder... that works fine for a generic, IRQ 5 installation.
Install the NT files manually as described in the NT documentation under
WINNT Installing for a non-supported CD-ROM drive.
Copy your Trantor NT driver into the \WINNT\SYSTEM\DRIVERS directory.
Once the system is running, run the REGEDIT program and add the
appropriate Trantor Txxx.SYS file to the Registry by creating a folder
as explained in the previous paragraph. The name in the Registry MUST
match the name of the driver. The sample .INI files we have included
with these drivers gives you the Key and Value parameters you need to
add. Ignore the 'class' box.
If you want to use a CD-ROM drive, you also need to add that information
to the Registry under the SCSIcdrm key. A sample SCSIcdrm.INI file is
included with the files in this archive that contains info for CD-ROM
drives. CDFS, CDAUDIO and SCSICDRM Start values should be set to 1 in
most cases using REGEDIT. This may also be done via the Control Panel
in WINNT.
Restart your system with the Trantor SCSI adapter installed and the SCSI
device connected.
Hard Disk Drives
Once the driver is installed in the Registry, and you have restarted
your system, you will be able to run Disk Manager and get an icon for
the SCSI drive. You can format it for NT using the FORMAT command with
the /FS (File System) option you desire.
CD-ROM Drives
The Trantor driver supports the Trantor SCSI adapter only. Drivers for
CD-ROM are supplied by Microsoft. Only the CD-ROM drives supported by
Microsoft will be accessable, even using the Trantor driver. Windows NT
should be able to recognize any supported CD-ROM drive when the system
is restarted. Make sure the CD-ROM device is enabled in the SCSIcdrm
entry in the ...\CurrentControlSet\services\ directory.
For audio support hints for non-SCSI-2 CD-ROM drives, see the file
supplied by Microsoft on Compuserve called NTFAQ.TXT in the WINNT Forum
Libraries.
Troubleshooting
If you are having trouble recognizing a SCSI device, make sure that you
can recognize that same device on the same computer running MS-DOS. If
you don't recognize it under DOS, you won't recognize it under NT
either.
Make sure you have the device installed in the Registry... both the SCSI
adapter and the SCSI device (such as CD-ROM). Microsoft hasn't
documented this installation process well, so it can get confusing. The
WINNT Forum on Compuserve can be a big help. Note: there is no
documentation on using the REGEDIT program. You just need to experiment
to figure things out.
If all else fails, you can post a message on the WINNT Forum on
Compuserve (someone from Trantor does check there regularly), or leave a
message on the Trantor BBS at 510-656-5159. Or you can FAX a question
to Trantor's technical support department at 510-770-9910.
T128 jumper settings
Some OEM manuals don't have the jumper settings of the T128 card in
their manual. For the T128 card, place a jumper shorting pin on JP1:
