     IMPORTANT!
You must have administrator privileges for your local
computer in order to install software drivers under Windows
NT. You must also have administrator privileges for your
computer to run the ToolsNT utilities.

     _________________________________________________________
     Section 1
What You Should Install (and Why)

     Versions 4.0 and 3.51 of Windows NT are NOT plug-and-play;
therefore, you MUST install driver software whenever you add
a new adapter card to a computer that is using one of these
versions of Windows NT. You must also install driver
software for Iomega drives that use the IDE or parallel port
interfaces. (This includes the ATAPI, IDE, and parallel
port Zip drives and Jaz Traveller.) After the necessary
driver software in installed, you also need to install
ToolsNT software to support all features of your Iomega
     drive.

IMPORTANT! If the necessary driver software is not
installed, Windows NT may not recognize your Iomega drive,
or your drive may not operate correctly.

Unfortunately, installing driver software under Windows NT
is complicated by different installation procedures for
different versions of Windows NT and by the fact that some
Iomega adapters and drives are supported by native Windows
NT drivers and some are not. Use the following information
to decide which installation procedure you need.

       * If you are installing the:

               Zip ATAPI drive
               Zip IDE drive
               Zip parallel port drive
               Jaz jet PCI Ultra
               Jaz jet PCI (PC/Mac model)
               Jaz Traveller

Use the instructions in Section 2 to install the Iomega
          driver (or drivers) you need.

       * If you are installing any Iomega, SCSI drive with:

               Jaz jet (PC-only model)
               Jaz jet ISA
               Zip zoom
               PC1600

Use the instructions in Section 3 to install the native
Windows NT driver (or drivers) you need.

       * If you are installing any Iomega drive with a non-
Iomega, SCSI adapter, refer to your Windows NT
documentation for instructions on installing a SCSI
adapter or refer to the documentation that came with
          the adapter.

     Section 2
Installing Iomega Drivers and Tools Software

To install Iomega drivers and ToolsNT software, you need to
use the Windows NT "Install" diskette that came with your
Iomega drive or adapter and the "tools" disk for your Zip or
Jaz drive. The installation procedure involves running the
Iomega SetupNT program twice - once to install driver
software, the second time to install ToolsNT.

     ______________________________
     Section 2.1
How to Install Iomega Drivers under Windows NT 4.0

      1. Insert the Iomega Install diskette for Windows NT into
          the computer's floppy drive.

      2. Insert the "tools" disk into the Iomega drive you are
          installing.

      3. Run "a:\setupnt.exe" from the Install diskette.

            * If the SetupNT program is unable to locate the
"tools" disk, make sure the "tools" disk is fully
inserted and click "OK." If SetupNT is still
unable to locate the "tools" disk, click "OK" again
and SetupNT will automatically open the "SCSI
Adapters" Control Panel so that you can install
the driver needed for your Iomega drive or
               adapter.** Continue to step 4.

**NOTE: Windows NT installs drives or adapters
that use the IDE or parallel port interface as
               SCSI adapters.

            * If the necessary driver is already present on the
system, SetupNT will be able to locate the "tools"
disk and install ToolsNT software. After Windows
NT reboots, your Iomega drive will be ready to
               use.

      4. Select the "Drivers" tab and click the "Add" button.

      5. When the list of Iomega adapters appears, double-click
          the adapter you are using.

      6. Choose "Current" in the Windows NT dialog box. Windows
NT will then add the necessary driver to the list of
installed adapters found on your system.

      7. At the next Windows NT dialog box, select "Yes" to
reboot the system. Remove the Install diskette from
the floppy drive while Windows NT reboots.

      8. After Windows NT reboots, run "SETUPNT.EXE" again from
the Install diskette to install the ToolsNT software
          package.

IMPORTANT! If the SetupNT program still cannot locate
the "tools" disk, use the manual installation
instructions in Section 5.1 to install the driver
software needed for your Iomega adapter or drive.

      2. Insert the "tools" disk into the Iomega drive you are
          installing.

      3. Run "a:\SETUPNT.EXE" from the Install diskette.

            * If the SetupNT program is unable to locate the
"tools" disk, make sure the "tools" disk is fully
inserted and click "OK." If SetupNT is still
unable to locate the "tools" disk, click "OK" again
and SetupNT will automatically run the "Windows NT
Setup" program so that you can install the driver
needed for your Iomega drive or adapter. Continue
               to step 4.

            * If the necessary driver is already present on the
system, SetupNT will be able to locate the "tools"
disk and install ToolsNT software. After Windows
NT reboots, your Iomega drive will be ready to
               use.

      4. From the Windows NT Setup window, choose the Options
pull-down menu and select "Add/Remove SCSI adapters."

NOTE: Windows NT installs drives or adapters that use
the IDE or parallel port interface as SCSI adapters.

      8. Click the "Install" button.

      9. Choose "Current" in the Windows NT dialog box. Windows
NT will then add the necessary driver to the list of
installed adapters found by the operating system.

     10. Click the button for "Close" and exit Windows NT Setup.

     11. Click "OK" and reboot the system. Remove the Install
diskette from the floppy drive while Windows NT
          reboots.

     12. After Windows NT reboots, run "SETUPNT.EXE" again from
the Install diskette to install the ToolsNT software
          package.

IMPORTANT! If the SetupNT program still cannot locate
the "tools" disk, use the manual installation
instructions in Section 5.2 to install the driver
software needed for your Iomega adapter or drive.

     Section 4
How to Boot from a Jaz Drive under Windows NT

     _____________________________
     Section 4.1
     System Requirements for Booting

You can boot your computer from a Jaz disk if your system
     meets the following conditions:

       * The computer does not have an IDE hard drive installed
as drive C. (You cannot boot from a SCSI drive if an
IDE drive is set up as drive C on the system unless the
IDE drive is disabled in the system CMOS.)

       * The Jaz drive is connected to a bootable host adapter
(ROM enabled). Check the adapter documentation for
information on necessary switch or jumper settings.

       * You have a compatible version Windows NT (4.0 or 3.51).

     CAUTION!
If you format the Jaz "tools" disk, it will destroy the
installation files needed to install ToolsNT software.

     _____________________________
     Section 4.2
Setting Up the Jaz Drive as the Boot Device

The following procedure sets up a Jaz disk as the primary
boot device for the computer. Note that the procedure in
this section assumes that the computer does not have a C
drive and currently boots from a floppy disk.

      1. Make sure your Jaz drive is connected to a bootable
host adapter and that the ROM BIOS on the adapter is
correctly enabled. (See the adapter documentation for
          specific instructions.)

      2. Set the SCSI ID on the Jaz drive to 0. (Some bootable
SCSI adapters will only assign drive letter C to the
          device at SCSI ID 0.)

      3. Turn on your Jaz drive and insert a blank, PC-formatted
          Jaz disk.

      4. Boot the computer using Windows NT Setup floppy disks.
Follow the instructions in the Setup program to install
the operating system to your Jaz boot disk. Note that
if Windows NT does not recognize the Jaz drive as a
bootable disk you will need to install the appropriate
driver for your adapter. Refer to your Windows NT
          documentation for instructions.

      5. When the Windows NT Setup program finishes installing
the operating system to the Jaz disk, reboot the
computer using the Jaz boot disk.

      6. Insert the Iomega "Install" diskette for Windows NT.

      7. Open the "BootSupp.ort" folder on the Install diskette
and run the cmd file needed for your version of Windows
NT. (Rboot40.cmd for Windows NT 4.0 or Rboot351.cmd
          for Windows 3.51.)

      8. Again reboot the system using the Jaz boot disk.

      9. Install any application programs you want to be able to
run from the Jaz boot disk.

Booting from an External Jaz Drive:

To boot the system after the computer has been turned off,
     turn on power to the Jaz drive and insert the Jaz boot disk;
     then turn on the computer.

     _________________________________________________________
     Section 5
     Manual Driver Installation
