PowerSCSI! (TM) Version 1.00 README Information March 17, 1993 This README file describes some troubleshooting tips for PowerSCSI! (TM) Version 1.00. =============== Troubleshooting =============== 1) If using a 3.00, 8.00, or 2.10 BIOS, the latest DOS Future/CAM device drivers must be loaded. Also, do not configure your drives at SCSI IDs 6 or 7 when using one of the BIOSes listed above. 2) If you plan to install other drivers after you have installed PowerSCSI! (TM), be sure that those drivers are not trying to control the same device that PowerSCSI! (TM) drivers control. Also, for CDROM users, sure that the Future Domain CDROM driver is the last driver loaded in your CONFIG.SYS file. 3) If you run PowerSCSI! under Windows, remove FDBIOS and install the Windisk (FDSCSI) driver. FDBIOS is recommended only for the DOS environment. 4) If you experience problems loading FDBIOS when QEMM is loaded, disable the Stealth feature of QEMM. 5) If you experience erratic mouse movements, use another COM port or mouse port. You may also try configuring your Future Domain SCSI Controller to another IRQ. 6) If you are using SYTOS Plus with a Future Domain 7000EX SCSI Controller, you must download a special version of the ASPIFCAM driver from the BBS at (714) 253-0432. 7) On some computers, there are problems after exiting Windows if the SCSI Controller is set to IRQ 15. The problems are: - The floppy cannot be accessed and will report 'Abort, Retry, Fail'. - If Windows has access to a Network, the system will crash when exiting Windows. Reconfiguring your SCSI Controller to another IRQ will alleviate this problem. 8) If you have multiple Future Domain SCSI Controllers and you wish to enable WINDISK (FDSCSI) support on all fixed disks in the system, it is required that all fixed disks be connected to the first SCSI Controller seen by the system. 9) If you are unable to use IRQ 14 when WINDISK (FDSCSI) is loaded, add the following line to the [386 Enh] Section of the SYSTEM.INI file: VirtualHDIrq = OFF 10) If you are using a Diamond Speed Star Graphics Adapter under Windows, add the following lines to the [386 Enh] section of the SYSTEM.INI file: FDSCSIMessageMode = OFF FCAMMessageMode = OFF 11) If you experience problems using Tape Backup programs when SMARTDRV is loaded, disable caching on the drive that you're running the Tape Backup software from, the drive you're backing up, and the drive you're restoring to. ========== Need Help? ========== If you need further assistance and you cannot find your answer in the manual, our friendly Customer Support Engineers will be happy to assist you.
