"DirectX 3" lets you install among other things the "DirectDraw" 
interface to enable certain video software a direct access 
to the video memory of the graphics board. In this way, image 
information is transferred directly to the graphics board.

The installation of Microsoft DirectX can be done during the
Windows95 Single Screen Installation or via the "Installation"
button.
