RELEASE NOTES MGA Millennium PowerDesk drivers for Windows 95 ----------------------------------------------- There are two versions of the PowerDesk driver on this CD-ROM: 3.18 and 3.14. Installation instructions are provided in your Millennium Installation manual. The DirectDraw driver we provide is compatible with DirectX 2 and includes Direct3D support. For our DirectDraw/Direct3D driver to be called and benefit from hardware accelerations, Microsoft DirectX 2 MUST be installed, even for applications originally made for DirectX 1 such as CompCore SoftPEG. For your convenience we have placed a copy of the Microsoft DirectX 2 redistributable code on this CD-ROM. If you are using Windows 95, do not forget to install it ! Please refer to the README file copied to your hard disk by the installation program of this Windows 95 driver for any last minute notes. MGA Millennium PowerDesk drivers for Windows 3.1 ------------------------------------------------ The version on this CD-ROM is 1.22 (Intl 1). Installation instructions are provided in your Millennium Installation manual. This Windows 3.1 product includes a DCI driver. For faster AVI file playback, the Microsoft Video for Windows redistributable files should be installed. Please refer to the README.WIN file copied to your hard disk by the installation program of this driver for any last minute notes. Millennium Windows NT 3.51 Driver --------------------------------- The version on this CD-ROM is 2.24. It supports NT 3.51 and 3.5, and comes with the MGA PowerDesk Control Panel. Installation instructions are provided in your Millennium Installation manual. Please refer to the README.NT file found in the \WINNT sub-directory on this CD for any last minute notes regarding this driver and for a description of the Control Panel. Millennium Windows NT 4.0 Driver -------------------------------- The version on this CD-ROM is 2.31. It supports NT 4.0 and comes with the MGA PowerDesk Control Panel. Please refer to the Release Notes and the README.NT file found in the \WINNT40 sub-directory on this CD for any last minute notes regarding this driver and for a description of the Control Panel. Millennium DOS CAD Drivers and Utilities ---------------------------------------- These drivers consist of the Millennium DOS Setup utility, the Millennium Autodesk ADI drivers for AutoCAD 11, 12, 13 and 3D Studio, and the Millennium Microstation driver. To install any or all of these components, run the INSTALL program from the \CAD directory on the CD. Millennium OS/2 Driver ---------------------- The version on this CD-ROM is 2.03. It supports OS/2 3.0 (Warp) and 2.11 and comes with the MGA Settings notebook. Installation instructions are provided in your Millennium Installation manual. Please refer to the README.OS2 file in the \OS2 sub-directory on this CD for any last minute notes regarding this driver and for a description of the MGA Settings notebook. MGA PowerDesk and Millennium Installation Guides ------------------------------------------------ This product includes the following electronic manuals: - Matrox Millennium Installation Guide - MGA PowerDesk for Windows 3.1 Guide - MGA PowerDesk for Windows 95 Guide This electronic documentation is readable through Adobe Acrobat Reader for Windows, version 2.1, which is included on this CD-ROM for your convenience. Acrobat supports all popular printers, so the documentation can be easily printed in parts or in total. Please refer to the readme_r.txt in the \ACROBAT directory for more information regarding Adobe Acrobat Reader for Windows, version 2.1. Note: - the installation program adds entries to your MGA PowerDesk group, making access to the documentation very easy. Adobe Acrobat Reader for Windows version 2.1 -------------------------------------------- This well-known product is used to display the MGA PowerDesk and Millennium Installation Guides described above. CompCore SoftPEG Player 2.0 --------------------------- This is a Windows driver which allows you to play back MPEG video on your Matrox Millenium. CD-I, Video CD, Video Karaoke, and most Windows MPEG applications are supported by this driver. Under Windows 95, the Microsoft DirectX software must also be installed to take advantage of MGA's hardware video acceleration. For best performances, use this driver in 16 bit color mode. Microsoft DirectX 2 and DirectVideo ----------------------------------- This Microsoft product, together with the Matrox DirectDraw/Direct3D driver, help to increase performance of DirectX games and video playback by allowing efficient use of the Millennium graphic hardware capabilities. This product is to be used under Windows 95 only. Millennium CAD Drivers Guide ---------------------------- This is the complete Millennium CAD Drivers Guide in electronic format. It covers the AutoCAD Dynaview drivers for DOS and Windows, as well as the MicroStation driver. This electronic documentation comes with Adobe Acrobat Reader for DOS, version 1.0. Acrobat supports all popular printers, so the documentation can be easily printed in parts or in total. Notes: - Acrobat Reader for DOS supports VESA SuperVGA modes, which the Millennium supports in its BIOS. To display the documentation in high resolution, call the Acrobat "Preference" menu, and select the desired SuperVGA mode. - the documentation can be accessed from within an AutoCAD DOS Shell, making it an excellent "on-line help" tool. - the documentation can also be read with Acrobat Reader for Windows. Acrobat Reader for Windows is included with the PowerDesk Documentation product, on this CD-ROM. - the installation of the Acrobat Reader and the actual doc (.PDF) file is handled through a Windows installation called SETUP.EXE. The two portions of the product can also be installed manually, if you do not have Windows installed on your system. For manual installation: cd \cadguide install (to install Acrobat Reader for DOS) copy cad_eng.pdf c:\acrodos copy cad_eng.bat c:\acrodos for other languages, substitute the _eng portion of the above two filenames for the other language suffixes (eng=English, fre=French, ger=German, ita=Italian, spa=Spanish) Microsoft Video for Windows 1.1e Upgrade ---------------------------------------- This is a Microsoft product aimed at upgrading your Video for Windows 1.1 support. It is necessary to have DCI enabled when playing your favorite AVI file. See the PowerDesk electronic documentation for more details on DCI and Video for Windows. This product is to be used under Windows 3.1 only. Millennium 3DR drivers ---------------------- This is a 3DR driver supporting Intel's 3DR under Windows 3.1 See the README.MGA file in the 3DR subdirectory for more details on installation and configuration.
