I realize there are already numerous top ten PPE's, so why another one? One of my friends is on a few boards that make use of a PPE called TOPUP, and I really liked the way it looked. Unfortunately, the PPE was unobtainable, seeing as how the author would only give the PPE to a few choice sysops. Out of those few sysops, I doubt the source was included so I decided to write one for my own. The original PPE, TOPUP, was written by The Brain, so I decided to call mine TOPUPý. I would like to thank him for writing such a good looking top ten PPE, and maybe in some way with me recreating the program, he could look at it as a sincere form of flattery. REQUIREMENTS: TOPUPý PPE is compiled with the PPLC compiler v2.0. In order to use this program, you must be running PCBoard v15.1 or higher. You must also have at least 10 users on your system in order for the program to work correctly. INSTALLATION: Simply unzip TOPUPý in a suitable directory (i.e. C:\PCB\PPE\) and edit the TOPUP.CFG file to your liking. Make sure to put the correct number of users on your system in the configuration file, or some users may not show up. I will elminate this setting in the next version, but for right now, update as needed. You can use TOPUPý 1 of 2 ways. You may choose to run TOPUPý during logoff by putting it in your $$LOGOFF.BAT file and simply displaying the output file as a bulletin during logon -or- you may run TOPUPý as a "realtime" PPE, and create a command in the CMD.LST file so a user can run it on-line. I will say this, if TOPUPý is run on-line, it's not the fastest thing in the world. While it's not a dog, it's not greased lightning either... :) THE CONFIGURATION FILE: TOPUPý comes with it's own configuration file called TOPUP.CFG. To edit the file, just use your favorite text editor. There are currently 6 lines that can be changed, and they are as follows: Line 1. Color used for user number Line 2. Color used for user handle Line 3. Color used for group/location Line 4. Color used for uploaded bytes Line 5. Color used for uploaded files Line 6. Current number of users on your system (Update as needed) NOTE: All 5 lines MUST have a color code filled in or the program will not run. Also make sure to use correct PCBoard color codes or the program will puke as well. Please don't delete any lines, and keep everything in the correct order (but you knew that already, didn't you? :) ) GUARRANTY: There is none. The only guarranty is it will occupy space on your hard drive. I have used the PPE with no problems on my system, but I cannot speak for yours. If you do encounter any problems, bugs or suggestions, feel free to leave e-mail to me (Mr. Goodwrench) on PARK CENTRAL, ALPHA 2010, THE HEMISPHERES or THE PiTS. You know the number(s), right? REVISION HISTORY: TOPUPý v1.O - July 8, 1994 - Initial release.
