ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ Files In Archive: LUCKY.DOC (This File) LUCKY.HIS (For more details, and history) LUCKY.PPE (Original PPE) LUCKY.CNF (Instructions for this file found in there) LUCKY.BUL (Created for the bulletin to show users) LUCKY.BYE (Can be used instead of the internal goodbye) **NOTE** For more _accurate_ information, please read the history **NOTE** file! I created this file after installing Bill Marcy's RUS.PPE v1.0. I wanted the ability of a bulletin being created, and changing the message to receiver only as well. Lucky also creates a pseudo database of who was flashed with the lucky screen and question. Lucky will only flash itself once for each individual user. For more complete information, please read the history file. I really loved the idea and material of what Bill was doing, and I credit him for this release. Without RUS.PPE, the LUCKY.PPE could not have been possible. To install this, so each user has a fair shot, I put this in my LOGON file. When the PPE is activiated after a certain amount of times (as per the CNF file), the PPE makes a bulletin called LUCKY.BUL of who was 'lucky', and when. After the Sysop reads the message, a Return Receipt is issued so that the User may know when his survey was viewed. We owe them that much.. Any questions... NOTE: This file was not meant to rival with Bill Marcy's, only I created this for myself, and then decided to share it with others. I thank Bill Marcy for his imagination and creation.... *FREEWARE* *PUBLIC DOMAIN* This archive can be distributed in its ORIGINAL fashion, with its OWN AV stamp. However, is does work on my board. If anything happens which is not supposed to occur, you have installed the file incorrectly. Mind you, the only part of the USERS record I read or write to, is PSA NOTES LINE #5. I also read how many times the user has logged on, but I do not write anything there. Which means, I disclaim anything that this program is supposed to do. You take it upon yourself if anything wrong happens. --DISCLAIMER-- ************ THIS IS AN EXAMPLE LUCKY.CNF FILE **************** SYSOP 56 Y 20 1000000 1 ; Line #1: Sysop's Name (UPPER CASE) ; Line #2: The Random Number At Which Lucky Will Be Initiated ; Line #3: Give Users Extra Time (Y/N) (*UPPER CASE*) ; Line #4: How Much Time You Want To Give Them ; Line #5: Extra download bytes you want added to this one call's d/l ; Line #6: The Code To Decide When Lucky Is Started Using Line #2 ; ; PLEASE DO NOT FOOL AROUND WITH LINE #6, AS YOUR RANDOMNESS MAY THEN CHANGE! ; However, whenever you change line #2, make sure your line #6 is set back ; to "1", being that there is an external counter involved. *************************************************************** NOTE: Also make sure that the SYSOP name is the same you use on your BBS.
