Z Word Link Ver. 2.00 by GŽœŽHŽD S™ŸTWŽRไ ABOUT Z WORD LINK อออออออออออออออออ Z Word Link is a PPE game for PCBoard 15.21+ that requires players to create three 4-letter words in a chain. The words are checked against an included dictionary, and the points earned are determined by the letters used in each word. Strategy, skill, and a good dose of luck all come into play in Z Word Link. More detailed instructions for play are available from within the game. INSTALLING Z WORD LINK ออออออออออออออออออออออ I'd suggest installing Z Word Link in its own directory. It has quite a few files included, and creates quite a few more files needed for the game, which is detailed later. Z Word Link can be installed in the CMD.LST, in the format shown below: PPE/MNU File Specification -or- Command Sec Keystroke Substitution อออออออ อออ ออออออออออออออออออออออ ZLINK 30 C:\PCB\PPL\ZLINK\ZLINK.PPE The file ZLINK.CFG must also be present in the same directory as the rest of the files. See the sample .CFG file enclosed in the archive for more information. The values included are only used in the registered version of Z Word Link. The default values of 3 games per day with *no* make-up days allowed are used for the unregistered version. Z Word Link can also be installed into a PCBoard .MNU as a PPE. It can even be installed into the DOORS.LST by having the batch file create a text file with a line such as: ECHO !C:\PCB\PPL\ZLINK\ZLINK.PPE 10 > PCBDOOR.TXT Files that are included with Z Word Link are as follows: ZLINK.PPE - The executable ZLINK.DBF - The Z Word Link Dictionary ZLINK.NDX - The Index to the dictionary, for faster searches ZLINK.INS - The online instructions to Z Word Link ZLINK.CFG - The Z Word Link Configuration file ZMAINT.PPE - An executable that allows you to add or delete words from the Z Word Link dictionary. Only functional in the registered version. ZCONVERT.PPE - Needed if a SysOp is moving from a prior version to version 2.00. SysOps installing 2.00 as their first version don't need this PPE. In addition, Z Word Link creates other files that are used for the game. They are: FAME.DBF - The Hall Of Fame information PLAYERS.DBF - The file that contains all player information PLAYERS1.NDX PLAYERS2.NDX - Indices for the PLAYERS.DBF ZLINK.SCO - The file created that displays the scores. Can be used for a bulletin. REQUEST.ZWL - A list of player-requested words. If a player believes a word should be added to the dictionary, this is the place for them to let you know. REGISTERING Z WORD LINK อออออออออออออออออออออออ Registration allows you to configure the number of plays available per day. The unregistered version is coded to 3 puzzles per day, but can be configured up to just about anything you'd like after registration. In addition, registration enables the make-up game feature....players can now remain competitive in Z Word Link if they miss days by allowing them to have make up games. See the README.NOW text for my own tips on converting to this new feature. The second PPE, ZMAINT.PPE, will also become functional. We did our best to include every 4-letter word we could find, but we've already found some that weren't in the dictionary, so additions will always be necessary. In addition, we may have included some 4-letter words that you might find "inappropriate". The PPE would allow you to remove these words from the dictionary as well. See the REGISTER.TXT for more information on registration. THE LEGAL STUFF อออออออออออออออ Z Word Link is guaranteed to do nothing except take up room on your hard drive. We have it installed and working fine on Hare Mail BBS, but I can't guarantee it will even run on your system. All risks are yours. THANKS TO.... อออออออออออออ ....the SysOps that have already registered Z Word Link! In addition, I'd like to thank the programmer(s) at CDC for including source in their RIPKIT for PCBoard for creating an online calendar. The source, in a *very* stripped down version, is included in Z Word Link as part of the make-up game feature. SPECIAL THANKS TO.... อออออออออออออออออออออ ....my wife Becky. She did ALL the graphics for the game, and I just sort of coded it around her. She also looked through the dictionary researching all the 4-letter words she could find. Luv Ya, Becky!
