YESNO.PPE (freeware) by Scot Thompson version 1.1 What is YESNO.PPE? ------------------ YESNO.PPE is designed to be put in your newuser text file. It will display any number of files to the user, with a wait after each, and when done, ask a yes/no question. If the user answers in the negative, then the ppe can be configured to hangup on the user. YESNO.PPE can display a file for each selection (yes or no). I use it on my bbs to show new users the rules of the bbs, some important notices, etc. Then I ask them if they agree to abide by the rules I have shown them. If they say no, then I log them off. If they say yes, then they are allowed to complete the newuser questions. The PPE could be setup so that it displayed the files, then asked if the user wanted to register, etc. The prompt is customizable for your use. How do I install YESNO.PPE? --------------------------- I have YESNO.PPE installed in my newuser* files in the \PCB\GEN\DISP directory. On the first line of each, I put the following line: !C:\PCB\PPL\YESNO\YESNO.PPE Now, configure your YESNO.LST file. This file is a list of files you wish to display to the user. Just list them one per line (including drive path). After the last file, put a dashed line (---------) so that we know when to stop . The configuration file is optional. I have included a sample one like I use on my BBS. The file is commented rather well, so you can read that if you need more help. The config file should contain the following: line one is the prompt you wish to use. The next three lines are all yes/no. Line two is whether you want the NOFILE displayed. This file would be displayed if the user chose NO from the first prompt. Line three is whether or not the YESFILE is displayed, as above. Line four is whether you want the user to be hungup on if they choose NO. If you select yes for hangup, then the user will get a second chance to answer the question before they are hung up on. Anything else I need to know? ----------------------------- If you have problems or questions, I can be reached at my BBS - Exeter's Place (602) 545-1700, in the Intelec CDC, PPL, and SysOp conferences, or as a last resort, on Salt Air BBS (CDC Support). I don't call SaltAir very often, so use that as a last resort. You can also FIDO netmail me at 1:114/449 if you choose. If you have comments or suggestion, feel free to send them to me. I am always ready to entertain ideas. Source code is included, and you may modify for your own use if necessary, but you may not distribute modified source without prior permission.
