Remind.PPE v1.0 Galaxy BBS Software 1-609-678-5360 By: Al Massari (c) 1994 What is Remind.PPE? Have you ever noticed how many times you had to explain to a new user that the reason they can't access certain functions on the baord is because they haven't gone through the verify door or ppe...This PPE was written to save me time from having to write message after message explaining the verification process....Yes, THE SAME MESSAGE THAT THEY DIDN'T READ WHEN THEY FIRST LOGGED ON ....All you need to do is replace your (G)oodbye Command with this PPE...It will remind any user with new user status that they need to go through the verification process, put them into the door or ppe and if for some reason they can't, it will enter them in the comment screen so they can explain why.. Note: I should mention that because this PPE is only accecced by users with un-verified status, it should not interfer with other (G) replacement PPE's...Although there may be a few exceptions... Installation: Installing Remind.ppe is a very easy to setup. Included with this Zip file are .cfg files for Door and PPE verifiers. If you are using a door program, then you will need to use REMIND.PPE....If you are PPE verifier then you need to use REMIND2.PPE....Once you have determinded which ppe you need to run, then follow the steps below: 1. Edit the Remind.cfg file to include the level used for new user status....Example: on the first line only, I have 19... My verified users are a level 20 so this means that any user with a security level of 19 or below will go through the ppe when logging off... Note: this file is used for both Remind.PPE and Remind2.PPE. 2. Next you need to edit either Doornum.cfg or PPE.cfg file. Depending on which method your using for verification.... If your using a door program, then only the number of the verify door should be included on the 1st line of the Doornum.cfg....See the sample doornum.cfg file... If using a ppe verifier, then you must edit the PPE.cfg file... YOU MUST INCLUDE THE FULL PATH TO THE VERIFYING PPE.... Remember to proceed this with the ! sign.. Example PPE.cfg would look somthing like this.... !c:\pcb\ppe\verify.ppe 3. Next you will need to edit the (Remind) file... This is only a text file explaining the conditions for using the verify process....You can edit this file to your own needs but you must save this and all files with their same names. Note: the (Remind) file uses no extention..... 4. Only thing left to do is go into PCB setup and replace the G command in your default CMD.Lst or Mainboard Cmd.lst with the the path to the Remind.PPE or Remind2.PPE... Example: G............0............C:\pcb\ppe\remind\remind.ppe or G............0............c:\pcb\ppe\remind\remind2.ppe Imprortant....remember to enter a 0 for security needed to access the PPE...This will ensure that users with new user status will be able to access the PPE... Well thats it... This should eliminate a lot of messages to new users and hope you find this PPE both useful and time saving...As with this and all previous PPE's I have written, it is not crippled in any way....If you like to have a Unregistered Copy line replaced with Registered to (Your Name) and the opening screen delay shortened just send $5.00 to the address below....After recipt of your payment, you may call the board and download your registered copy of REMIND.PPE...
