It is perfect for BBS advertisements in various networks you carry, or sending network rules in your networks on the 1st of the month, or whatever you find use for it to do. AutoPost places the date and time in the tagline so none of your posts will be killed off as a "duplicate" of any previous posts. One message is supported in the unregistered version. When registered AutoPost can support an *unlimited* number of messages! The tagline it creates is hardcoded. It is done that way so that the date/time can be used for prevention of deltion as duplicates. Installation of AutoPost is the easiest part of all. Place AutoPost in your event using "PCBOARD /PPE:D:\PPE\AP\AUTOPOST.PPE" as your command line after changing to your PCBoard directory. Of course, change the above paths to whatever your actual location of AutoPost is. Then you place the AUTOPOST.CNF file in your AutoPost directory. This file has only three lines and a sample is shown below. AutoPost will NOT function properly if you do... When configuring a message file for DAILY posting, the line below it should be left blank as it is not used. That line below is only used for messages configured for WEEKLY or MONTHLY postings. * This is new in version 4.2, you must add either TOP or BOTTOM on this line. It will determine if the tag goes at the top or bottom of the post. It seems some software only checks the first few lines of a post to determine if it is a duplicate. This way, with the AutoPost tagline at the top, messages will not be viewed as duplicates. For SysOps upgrading from v3.9 or earlier, you will notice that the FILENAME.TAG (????????.TAG) file is no longer there. AutoPost doesn't need to keep these files any longer since it is now up to you to only run AutoPost once a day... That's it, AutoPost is configured and ready to go. All you have to do is create the above file, make the corresponding text files for your msgs and you are done. Oh, all files must reside in the PPE directory.
