Where do I begin?! It let's users add their own personal reminders to the Remind Me! database. Then, at each login it will notify them of their reminders. They can set up to 31 days of advance reminders for any reminder, they can make reminders permanent (for those nasty annual events like anniversaries), or temp- orary of they only want to be reminder this one time. They can purge a reminder they no longer want, add new ones, have a messsage sent the day before an important date (for those with automated mail runs). And now RemindMe also displays holidays for those who don't want to forget any special days! It also counts down the days before Christmas start- ing at the number of days YOU define in the configuration file. It lets your users.... þ Add unlimited reminders to "their" database þ Purge reminders they no longer want þ Set reminders as temporary or permanent (for those annual events) þ Set reminders as "remind me at logon" or "at logon and by message" þ Set number of days (up to 31) prior to event to start logon reminder Also... RemindMe! automatically purges temporary reminders after their "remind date" has been passed. There is really no maintenance you need to worry about, RemindMe takes care of it all! Caveat! While we've made every attempt at security, I do not recommend this to be used for sensitive material. Neither Cliff Watkins nor Intelec will be responsible for losses incurred through the use, misuse or abuse of Remind Me! Just install as a command in the PCBoard CMD.LST file and you're all set. There's a little bit you will to do with the config file (explained below). For more info on the PCB CMD.LST file, please see your PCBoard 15.2 docs. The config file MUST be located in the same directory as REMINDME.PPE and it MUST be called REMINDME.CNF. An explanation of the config file follows: ÚÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ¿ ³ Intelec Online ³ -> Who registered to (a BBS name or SysOp name) ³ 00000 ³ -> Registration number (00000 if unregistered) ³ 00000 ³ -> Validation code (assigned upon registration) ³ @x0F ³ -> Color for the display of the holiday ³ 14 ³ -> Days before Christmas to begin counting down ÀÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ ÚÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ¿ ³ If you have already installed the CWPPE TPA, then skip this section! ³ ÃÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ´ ³ You must now install the "CWPPE" TPA in PCBSM. For additional info on ³ ³ installing TPA's please consult your PCBoard manual. After bringing ³ ³ down all your nodes, install the TPA with these settings: ³ ³ TPA Name: CWPPE ³ ³ Version: 1 ³ ³ Static: 256 ³ ³ Dynamic: 1 ³ ³ Key: CWPPE ³ ³ This TPA is installed for various "user specific settings" that some ³ ³ of my PPE utils will require. If you installed this TPA already for ³ ³ one of my other PPE's then you DON'T need to re-install it again, but ³ ³ it is required for operation of this PPE. ³ ÀÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ Then install into the security specific logon screens or at the end of the NEWS screen, etc, for each (or all) security levels you want to be notified of reminders they sent. If you want ALL the users to use this feature and you use only one NEWS screen (not NEWS10 NEWS20 etc), then Put this 1 line at the end of the NEWS file: !F:\PPE\RM\REMINDME.PPE S or you can put this line in any security specific login file you want, But use your own directory locations and start with the ! in column 1. That's it! It's installed and fully operational! I said it was a snap. RemindMe makes a few files of it's own to keep track of user info and security features. Each user is asked to supply a private 4 digit PIN number and to REMEMBER it. This PIN number is used for that user and that user only. It creates a file called xxxx.LST where xxxx is their chosen PIN number. RemindMe won't let 2 users choose the same number! All user's PIN numbers are stored in a file called REMINDME.COD. It is a straight ascii text file, so if a user forgets their number you can retrieve it for them. This is what it looks like, so always give them the number directly below their name in this file: Users Name Users Code CLIFF WATKINS 1234 Holidays!
