TAGGED.PPE v1.0 Test Period Written By Thom Allen PPLC v3.0+ I have put alot of work into this program, and it came from an annoying cycle I faced everytime I logged onto a BBS and found alot of files that were interesting, but didn't have enough time, bytes or credits left to do it. I used to write them in a book, or on a paper or something, but most of the time I lost the paper, and never could remember what I wanted to get the next time I called. This program is basically an online database of those files that you are not able to download on this call, or at this time. It will allow you to save them and tag them later for download. I am not a very good documentation writter, and this will be all there is durring the testing faze. I don't have a running BBS anymore but will discuss all problems and additions, IN PRIVATE, on Salt Air. Please keep all this testing private, and please don't give out the PPE to anyone until I have worked out all the problems (I'm not perfect so I know there will be some :) Anyway, installing is very simple, and its up to you how its installed. Bascially, I am not going to be doing the normal BETA TEST for ever sindrome that seems to plague software. This program is done, as far as I am concerned, but what I want is feed back on how to make it better feel better, look better, or even if its worth using. I am going to give myself until November 15, 1994, to get all additions, changes and anything else we need done. After that, if the program isnt 100% I will quit testing it, until I can get the program fixed. I need all your suggestions, all of them, tell me the truth, be honest but please be curtious, I did spend alot of time putting this idea into a program. Again, I appreciate your help, and heres to good testing. Installation: First, and most important, is you need to use TFLAG.PPE. The version that is contained in this archive, is a modified version of David Terry's original FLAG.PPE. It functions the exact same way, and your users won't know a difference. This exception is that it creats some text files of what your callers tag. IT IS IMPARATIVE that you use this version of TFLAG or TAGGED.PPE will not work. So erase, or backup your copy of FLAG, and replace it with mine. Sencond, put all three PPE's (TFLAG, BATCH, TAGGED) into the same directory. It doesn't matter where. Then you will need to modify the PCBTEXT file, this is an ENGLISH version (Later we might add other languages), in the finished product I will have an automated install program. But for now you can add the PPE BATCH to any of your PCBTEXT numbers that have to do with ratios. These are the ones that I have tested it with 159, 668, 670 674, 675. Oh, I forgot to tell you. I started writting this when 15.1 was the only version, and didn't have the accounting built into PCB. If you would like an option for the credits built in, I will have to make some modifications for this to work. This program supports only PCBoard internal ratio rules. If you use another program to keep track of ratios, then this program will not work for you. Basically, this PPE will run when your user tries to flag a file and it exceeds their ratios. They are asked if they want to create a database to hold this file for later downloading. It creates two files, first is the database for the user. It will begin with user number, and look like this 34.dbf, for user number 34. Now, if you always repack your user file, then this will cause a problem, because after your done, it won't match up. The second file is a text file that is of no use to you , and is only used to get more file info, and is erased after the file is processed. The next file, that needs to be installed in your CMD.LST file, is TAGGED.PPE. This program is the one that allows you to donwload the the files in your database. You can TAG, UNTAG, DELETE or DOWNLOAD from this program. This is the module that I need the most help with. Interface accuracy and other things. Please let me know how this works. So, I have had this working on my BBS, but I need to see how it works on others. I make no guarantees, and I can't promise that it will work for you. there is nothing in this program that will affect any of your users files and will not touch your config files either. Finally, this program is for your users to keep track of files, not to moderate your ratio structure. The only thing we do is adhere to it, so people can't bypass what you have set up. Thanks for taking the time to use this PPE.
