FTP by Email is only 1 in a series of PCBoard PPE's I have
written. The purpose of these PPE's is to give a Sysop who can't
afford a direct internet connection, a way to supply his or her
users with some internet services. Right now I have 3 PPE's in the
series. World Wide Web by Email, ARCHIE by Email and WWW by Email.

Installing the ppe is easy.

Step 1:

Create a directory and unzip FTP.ZIP
example
md c:\pcb\ppe\ftp
cd c:\pcb\ppe\ftp
pkunzip ftp.zip

Step 2:

Install the file ftp.ppr as a command in PCBoards CMD.LST file!

Load the PCBoard Setup Program

Choose option B, File Locations

Choose option B, Configuration Files

The 8th file down is CMD.LST file, press F2 to edit it.

You now are in the CMD.LST Editor

Insert a new command line by pressint ALT-I

Add the command as such:
Charges per PPE/MNU File specification -or-
    Command Sec Minute Use KeystrokeSubstitution
    ÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ ÍÍÍ ÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ ÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ
    FTP 0 0 0 C:\PCB\PPE\FTP\FTP.PPE

Step 3:

Using either PCBEDIT or DOS EDIT, Edit the file called "FTP.CFG"
This file contains the number of your internet email conference.
For example my internet email conference is 5, so my FTP.CFG file
contains the number 5 in it.

Step 4:

Edit your menu file to reflect that a new command has been added.

That's it! Your users may now start entering URL's.

How does it work?

It's simple. A user enters a HOST name like somesite.with@good.files.com,
a UNIX directory name line /PUB, and a file name like some_unix_style_file.
A email request is sent to an FTP Email server. Then when your next UUCP
event occurs, the email is sent to the server. By the time your next
UUCP event occurs, the user should have an email response with the FILE
in it or a status report about the request! It sometimes takes several
hours for the FTP EMAIL SERVER to get to your request.

Features in the registered product:

(1) Your BBS name and your Sysop name in the Program.
(2) You will an option of which server you want to use. There are
a few of them, and in the shareware version, only one of them
    is hardcoded into the software

    files are in that directory.

free support on my BBS, Nick's World, the home of NicksWare
