About the LOGIN ppe program: ÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ The LOGIN program works like a matrix login ppe program but with a couple of added features. The login screen can be completely customized (up to 20 different screens), And the location of the cursor can also be customized for each prompt. (First and Last name or Handle and password). Another added feature is the ability to just use the program as a WELCOME screen rotator. Running the program from the DOS prompt: ÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ Normally, with any ppe program you are able to test run it from the DOS prompt. With this program you cannot! The reason why? I made the program so, that no one could possibly access your system without having to go through the login process directly through your bbs software. Call it an additional security feature . Setting up the program: ÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ First unzip the files in any directory you choose. Next go to the PCB directory and type MKPCBTXT. Then enter the location of your pcbtext file. (For Example c:\pcb\gen\pcbtext) Then change line number 259 to the following: !:\\LOGIN.PPE LOGIN.CFG Mine Looks like this...!C:\PCB\PPL\LOGIN\LOGIN.PPE LOGIN.CFG ÕÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ͸ ³ PCBTEXT File Generator/Editor ³ ÔÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ; ÕÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ͸ ³Enter filename to edit/convert: C:\PCB\GEN\PCBTEXT ³ ÔÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ; ÕÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ͸ ³ Record No.: 259 Record Length: 70 Justification: Left ³ ÃÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ´ ³What is your first name ³ ³!C:\PCB\PPL\LOGIN\LOGIN.PPE LOGIN.CFG ³ ÔÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ; ÚÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ¿ ³ = Save & Quit. = Text-Search. ³ ³ = Jump to Record # = Restore Default. ³ ³ = Back 1 record. = Ahead 1 record. ³ ³ = Back 10 records. = Ahead 10 records. ³ ³ = Begin. of file. = End of File. ³ ³ Use the tilde (~) character to add hard-spaces to the end of a string. ³ ÀÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ ÕÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ͸ ³ Copyright (C) 1988-1994 Clark Development Company, Inc. ³ ÔÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ; Setting up the LOGIN.CFG file: ÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ For a more detailed explaination of how to setup the LOGIN.CFG file which contains the location of the cursor prompts, (see the LOGIN.CFG file). Enter the number of different logon files you want LOGIN to use in the first line of the config file; and make sure that the second line of the config file is set equal to "YES". You will then need to specify the filenames of your various logon screens in the config file. I have this set to LOGON.PCB and the screens are named as such. These files MUST be located in the same directory as the LOGIN.PPE file. When using this option, you also need to enter all of the screen coordinates requested by the config file. I suggest you use something like PCBEDIT to determine the correct screen coordinates. Note: to allow room on the screen for the caller's Name and Password, the screen column coordinates must never exceed 67. And for some esoteric reason, the screen row coordinates can never be larger than 22. NOTE: If you are using LOGIN to rotate your LOGON screens, be sure to install the new NULL.PPE file in Record #260 of your PCBTEXT file. That is the one that prompts the caller for his Last Name. The LOGIN Screens: ÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ The `LOGON' screens can be edited using the PCB program PCBEDIT. The text files named "LOGONx.PCB" are the COLOR screens and the "NO_ANSI.ASC" file is the only NON-ANSI screen that is needed. Rotating WELCOME Screens: ÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ If you want to use LOGIN only to rotate your WELCOMEG. screens, then replace your current WELCOMEG. file with one that contains the following as the first and ONLY line: !C:\PCB\PPL\LOGIN\LOGIN.PPE LOGIN.CNF The command line parameter is the name of the config file and you can use any file name you want. Obviously, you have to modify the path to the PPE to match your actual BBS configuration. Enter the number of different welcome files you want LOGIN to use in the first line of the config file; and make sure that the second line of the config file is set equal to "NO". You will then need to specify the filenames of your various WELCOME screens in the config file. These files MUST be located in the same directory as the LOGIN.PPE file. Do NOT specify the full path, just enter the filenames. When using this option, simply enter zero's for all of the screen coordinates requested by the config file.
