It opens new functions long time awaited. - Files can be marked directly on screen by cursor movement - Modify download list - add, delete, view - You are able to grab file descriptions for download - Resume functions for secured download (or first save list, upload then download) Conditions for MFLAGGI 3.0 ÀÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ MFLAGGI 3.0 works with PCBoard from Version 15.2 in ANSI-Mode with 23 Lines with single or multinode configuration and multiple languages. How to install MFLAGGI 3.0 ? ÀÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ This huge and versatile Program requires a careful installation. If you follow the the instructions written down exactly, MFLAGGI will run without any problems. Step by Step: 1. Create a directory called \PCB\PPE\MFL 2. Copy all files from the archive MFLAG30.ZIP to this directory. 3. Execute the file INSTALL.BAT : the following Parameters are absolutely required!: 1. The complete path to MKPCBTXT.EXE Compiler for example C:\PCB 2. The complete path to your PCBTEXT file for example C:\PCB\GEN\PCBTEXT 3. The directory where MFLAGGI 3.0 is located. for example C:\PCB\PPE\MFL The Parameters will be checked as well as possible and any errors will be announced. The original PCBTEXT file will be saved in directory of MFLAGGI 3.0 MFLAGGI 3.0 must be called from within PCBTEXT.xxx as follows Record #61 - !C:\PCB\PPE\MFL\MFLAGGI.PPE PRE the download-menu will be called there Record #192 - !C:\PCB\PPE\MFL\MFLAGGI.PPE RES @OPTEXT@ MFLAGGI will be called for disconnect and MINLEFT will be displayed. Record #549 - !C:\PCB\PPE\MFL\MFLAGGI.PPE NOR call of MFLAGGI instead of default download-prompt Record #728 - !C:\PCB\PPE\MFL\MFLAGGI.PPE PRE startup with MFLAGGI download menu This is normal and used on our support-bbs tested installation. If you choose to deviate the installation from the standard you have to do it manually (no problem for aproved PCBoard SysOp's). 4. Edit the file called MFLAGGI.CFG to your requirements 5. check out the file-extensions of your favorite languages and rename them if needed. English is standard and optional in the package german (filexxx.GER) 6. check for the existance of an empty directory called xxx\MFL\SAVE the directory SAVE is needed for RESUME and RESTORE function !!! ==================== Snip =================================================== The Standard settings are finished now. What does it need ? ÀÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ Files in this package and theyr directory structure : For better understanding of MFLAGGI - 3 directories are required PCB\PPE\ ÀÄ MFL\ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ> contains all system files ÃÄÄÄ MSGS\ ÄÄÄ> contains all display files ÀÄÄÄ SAVE\ ÄÄÄ> stored resume files of users Files located in the MFLAGGI directory and their function: INSTALL.BAT - Install program to setup MFLAGGI MGLAGGI.PPE - Main Program MFLAGGI.CFG - Configuration for MFLAGGI MFLAGGI.DOC - you are reading this file now READIDX.EXE - Grabber for file descriptions READIDX.INI - Config file for READIDX.EXE (edit it to your requirements) all Conferences selected will be scanned for descriptions GRABHEAD - Header for Grabfile GRABFOOT - Footer for Grabfile Contents of \MFL\MSGS : MFLAGBDR - Error msg if Baudrate is lower than allowed in MFLAGGI.CFG MFLAGBG - New Menuline displayed while marking files MFLAGDLH - Infoscreen displayed to user if download has been disabled by SysOp in MFLAGGI.CFG because of PCB-limitation MFLAGERG - Errormessage if no ANSI detected MFLAGFI - Download Preview screen MFLAGHLP - Help screen for new function in filelist MFLAHLV - File displayed while loading file viewer MFLAGNG - New status line in filelist MFLAGORG - Orginal prompt, if MFLAGGI is not in use MFLAGRE - Resume Window displayed if RESTORE-list of user has been detected MFLAGSA - Asks the user to store his filelist in case of CARRIER LOST or upload first MFLAGVHP - Help screen for Preview window MFLAGVK - Collected status lines displayed in the current condition 1. User Specific Data !!! do not give your users ability to download !!! ================================================== for example: If the file MF155.SAV exists, it means that user with record #155 has stored his download list for later use in \MFL\SAVE\ Important NOTE: If this runs automatically in an event or manual by PCBoard's System manager (PCBSM.EXE), we recommended you delete all data in this directory after user sort because of a possible change of the userrecords! If you do not delete them at this point, you make userdata of others available! Line 9 ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ tells MFLAGGI the minimum Baud rate to use default (recommended) is 4800 Baud and should not be changed Line 10 ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ allows usage of MFLAGGI minimum user level Userlevel will be compared by MFLAGGI and will only executed if the userlevel is higher or equal. Line 11 ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ allow usage of Preview window by security level The value of this level must be higher or equal to line #10 Line 12 ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ subdirectory for MFLAGGI display files z.B. \PCB\PPE\MFL\MSGS\ !! The '\' at the end is important !! Line 13 ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ Subdirectory and filename to file which will be created by your favorite file viewer and where it can be downloaded. Usage of @PCBNODE@ is allowed and recommended! (we recommend using PCBFV by Brent Yandell Software) for example: \PCB\WORK\FLAG-@PCBNODE@.ZIP Line 14 ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ Subdirectory and filename of GRAB-file if created by READIDX.EXE (c) by RATEC AUSTRIA for example: \PCB\WORK\GRAB@CALLNUM@.@PCBNODE@ @PCBNODE@ - replaces this with the current node number @CALLNUM@ - replaces this with the current caller number Line 15 ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ Subdirectory and filename which points to the advertisement of your BBS. It will be added to the download automatically if found. User cannot disable the download of this file! (leave blank if unused) for example: \PCB\PPE\MFL\MY-ADD.TXT In lines 12-15, where you can edit your path, PCBoard's useful variables are also supported.. Ex: @PCBNODE@ - replaces this with the current node number @CALLNUM@ - replaces this with the current caller number for example: Line 14 \PCB\WORK\GRAB@CALLNUM@.@PCBNODE@ Line 16 ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ Time balance wich disables the download function from filelist These formats are supported: Military time (used in Europe) and American Style such as: 08:00-22:00 or 08a:10p !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Reasons why ? PCBoard locks the filelist during a user download. If there is a system maintenance attempt by PCBfiler (edit or move), the SysOp will get sharing violation errors. (Sorry but this comes from PCBoard :-(( ) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Line 17 ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ Setting of scroll function. If TRUE, the Cursor jumps to the direction wich was used at least in flagmode. (default is TRUE) Line 18 ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ Setting of en/disable of ADD in Preview available or not. If TRUE Files can be added in Preview Menu. Line 19 ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ Set if you want to display additional information. It will be displayed to the user if the current function of MFLAGGI 3.0 is not available. If TRUE file MFLAGBDR or MFLAGERG will be displayed. Line 20 ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ Enables/disables usage of Resume Function. If FALSE user cannot use the Resume Function. Line 21 ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ Sets the function which is called by jump to Preview menu If TRUE, it starts with highlighted prompt GRAB if user chooses grab then prompt jumps automatically to download. (default is TRUE) Line 22 ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ DEBUG - Flag, internal Debug flag. It is only set for analysis of mistakes to enable a Log in callers file to make it more easy to locate the error. We do not guarantee this function! It must remain FALSE with the exception of technical assistance. How does MFLAGGI 3.0 work ? ÀÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ If a File list is called up instead of the normal prompt you will see MFLAGGI 3.0 in action. The following functions are available: Main function of the Menubar: ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ 1. (H)elp - The extended functions of MFLAGGI are displayed and summarized by pressing the H-Key. 2. (D)ownload- You will jump directly to Download Preview window of MFLAGGI and the Cursor will be at the GRAB-Option or Download. (according to MFLAGGI.CFG Line #20) 3. (L)ist - Same function as download but the CURSOR is at the VIEW position to view a highlighted file. 4. SPACE - Moves the cursor, mark, demark in the file list. see also "extended functions". 5. CursorUp/ - Moves the cursor a space. You are able to use Down the "extented functions" of MFLAGGI 3.0 6. * - Moves the cursor in filelist, mark ALL files at the screen and waits at the top of the screen for confirmation of function. Enter confirms the flag of all files with the '*'-mark. ESC stops this function and returns to the menu and restores the screen. Extended Functions : ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ If the cursor is in the filelist you are able to use the following functions: 1. CursorUp\ - The highlighted bar scrolls over the files wich can be Down viewed or flagged for download. 2. SPACE - Will mark a file by tagging with a '*' behind the filename Depending on MFLAGGI.CFG Line #16, the Cursor jumps to next file and is waiting for next command. 3. VIEW - Calls the file viewer for the file under the highlighted bar. PCBVIEW.BAT is called there. If a file has been flagged from the file viewer and a file such as in MFLAGGI.CFG Line #13 has been created this file will be flagged automatically for download after the file view. 4. ENTER - ENTER is confirmation to mark file(s) and returns back to menu prompt. Files marked by '*' cannot be processed at this screen. The ENTER-Key works in two ways: - If there is no file marked by space the highlighted file will be flagged. Are there files marked by SPACE or '*' they will be used for flag and take over for download. 5. ESC - ESC stops current function and restores the screen. Functions in the Preview Window : ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ If the Keys 'L' or 'D' are pressed from file list screen or 'D' from Main menu, you may use the following functions: Main functions: Cursor Up/ - Moves the Cursor to next filename in that direction. Cursor Down Cursor Left/ - Moves the highlighted bar across the options Cursor Right wich can be confirmed by pressing the enter key. MFLAGGI automatically detects wich function is set free. For example the user cannot choose ERASE if there are no files flagged for download. Keyfunctions: 1. ESC - Stops the current menu function and steps back to the previous one. 2. View - Calls the fileviewer for the file under the highlighted bar. PCBVIEW.BAT is called there. If a file has been flagged from the file viewer and a file such as in MFLAGGI.CFG Line #13 has been created, this file will be flagged automatically for download after finish the file view. 3. Mark - Marks the filename under the highlighted bar with 'þ' and jumps (if enabled in MFLAGGI.CFG) to next file. (if cursor- movement was down, cursor jumps down) 4. Erase - Deletes one or more files from download list. If no files are marked by 'þ', only the highlighted file will be deleted. If there are files marked by 'þ', they will be deleted from download list. ESC will stop this function immediately. Attention !!! PCBoard does not support this function anyway the Programmers of PCBoard have not added support of unmark, PCBoard does not detect that byte size has been changed. Download time will pass credit return after a finished Download. 5. Grab - File descriptions of flagged files are searched and copied to grabfile and displayed at first position in Preview (more details in grabber description) 6. Add - Enables ability to add files to download list. Wildcards are allowed. If a wrong filename was entered, there is a repeat feature accessible by pressing Cursor Up after the Add-Key. The filename entered will be restored to screen and the user is able to correct his entry. 7. Download - Starts with Download menu. But first the user is asked to save his downloadlist for later use or in case of CARRIER LOSS. Resume Function : ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ User can restore his saved download list after a CARRIER LOSS or an upload. For this feature, MFLAGGI creates its own user specific datafile. This data is checked for existance and the user is asked to restore or delete this download list. !! A resume datafile is created if user selects Yes before starting his download !! After each download, DSZLOG is checked for already successful transmitted files and deletes this files from the resume datafile. File-Grabber : ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ The grabber (READIDX.EXE) is only for use with MFLAGGI (c) RATEC Austria It is a seperate executable program wich is called by MFLAGGI 3.0. MFLAGGI places different information at disposal, which is analyzed by GRABBER for getting file descriptions. In PCBoard are different ways to find them: 1. The slow Method - Searching in all file lists for filenames till the filename is found. This can take awhile if there is a large file list. 2. The fast Method by calculating - That is the one MFLAGGI 3.0 uses. Grabber of MFLAGGI uses Method #2 and is very fast. In the first run it looks in current Conference for descriptions then it searches in ascending order up to highest conference. only Conferences used wich are entered in the READIDX.INI file for searching. For additional speedup it is required to edit this INI-file - Example: In a system with 600 Conferences the grabber has to scan all Conferences. This slows down the systems performance and the users will hangup. To stop this slowdown, edit the INI file and enter the Conferences where are files located. (see READIDX.INI) The grabber creates a datafile which can be decided by Usernumber and Callernumber. This file will be added to download list and be deleted automatically in LOGOFF. Compilation of Grabfiles : The file GRABHEAD will be copied to the filename found in MFLAGGI.CFG Line #14. Then all file descriptions and at least the FILE called GRABFOOT is added. Function finished. In file GRABFOOT the following parameters are supported: @POS:XX@ - Cursor positioning for better fit. @FILES@ - Amount of Files Downloaded @_FILESIZE_@ - File size (up to 100kB in Byte) @BBSNAME@ - Name of BBS @_DATE_@ - Date of Download @_TIME_@ - Time of Download @SYSOP@ - SysOp's Name @NOF@ - Number of File descriptions not found for GRAB (Normally there must be 0. In some reasons there can be also an amount higher than 0. For example, if the user downloads a file attach because this file has no file description) In normal operation and correct setup the grabber works perfect. If you are having any problem with it do not hesitate to contact our technical support. For possible errors there is an enviroment variable you can set for debug and a file called GRABLOG will be created and gives you additional information of possible problems. SET READIDX=DEBUG to set this function ON and create additinal data in the GRABLOG datafile. Board.Bat ÀÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ For safety using GRABBER, check the existance of the following enviroment variables by the dos SET-command and add them to your Board.Bat file if needed. - Example: SET DSZLOG=C:\PCB\PCBDSZ.LOG SET PCBDAT=C:\PCB\PCBOARD.DAT SET PCBDIR=\PCB SET PCBDRIVE=C: Limits in Sharewareversion: ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ 1. User is only able to flag one file each take over of files. 2. User cannot use the wildcard add in preview. 3. No advertisement of your bbs can be send out to user. 4. Descriptiongrabber beeps at end, scans only the local conferece and ignores the READIDX.INI file Closing ÀÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ Many thanks to all people who helped in creating this nice Tool.
