As a result, we present you with a file organization PCBoard add-on program that is reasonably easy to configure (Nothing GOOD is ever truly easy!), and extremely natural to use from the end users point of view! This PPE allows for up to 26 different sub-categories, with up to a maximum of 26 file directories beneath each of the sub-categories. This gives you a maximum number of 676 file areas that can be handled by this add-on program. Even SOFTWARE CREATIONS (tm) only has 300 areas, so it's safe to say that under 99% of the circumstances, you should be alright with the limits within this PPE. This PPE also handles users calling in with ASCII terminals that do not support ANSI screen positioning commands. You don't have to worry about your ASCII callers having garbled screens. AND, for those users calling in with RIP graphics, this package also handles RIP (Remote Image Protocal) callers in a very professional manner. The release package contains some sample data files for you to model your system after. It is very important that you use the filenaming conventions outlined here, otherwise you're going to run into problems. This is the the PPE itself that you will execute whenever the file menu is requested. ULT_FILE.SUB ........ This file contains a text description of each sub-area that will appear in the first menu that is presented to the end user when the file menu is requested. NOTE : These should appear in the order that your areas are laid out in your file area setup in PCBoard. ULT_FILE.FAR ........ This file contains the beginning DIRECTORY NUMBER for each Sub-area. ie: Applications directories are from 1 - 15, and BBS Support Software directories are from 16 - 27, then the first two entries in this file would be : 1 16 NOTE : Within each category, the directory numbers will be consecutive. MASK.ANS ........ This is the menu mask that is used to present the directory categories. Although the colors may be changed in this file to suit the color scheme of your BBS, do not modify the position of the characters, as this PPE is designed to present the information within that framework! MASK.ASC ........ This is the ASCII menu mask that is used to present the directory categories. This screen may also be changed to conform to your BBS's style, but be sure not to change the position of the characters in the existing mask, as this PPE is designed to present the information within that framework! MASK1.RIP ........ This is the first RIP MASK for the categories screen, and should not be modified in any way, as this will seriously affect the performance of this PPE. MASK2.RIP ........ This is the second RIP MASK for the categories screen, and should not be modified in any way, as this will seriously affect the performance of this PPE. ULT_FILE.COR ........ This file may be modified or replaced with something that contains similar information. It contains the header for a continuous list of all categories and associated file areas. This feature was added as some users prefer this format. AREA1 ........ These can range from AREA1, AREA2, AREA3, .... AREA26 depending on how many categories you define. In each of these files, you will enter the file directory description as it appears in the PCBOARD file area setup. Examine the sample files for more detailed information. NOTE : AREA1 and AREA2 both contain more information on how to configure these files! Once you understand the sample AREAx files, you can delete them and create your own! ULT_FILE.CFG ........ This file contains FOUR records. i) The first line is the SYSOP's name. ii) The second line is the BBS's name. iii) The third line is the registration code. This is the number that is issued to you if you decide to send in the registration fee for this software. iv) This can be either a "Y" or a "N". This option is only active once the program has been registered. It toggles whether you would like the "REGISTERED TO" text to appear when the program ends or not. "Y" causes it to appear at program termination, and "N" suppresses this comment in order to have a 100% seamless integration with your BBS! If you decide to register this software, the registration code that will be issued to you will remove ALL delays in the program, and it will function seamlessly.
