Introduction | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ This is a quick PPE which allows a turbo logon feature for your users. Specify PPE's to execute, bulletins to display, or whatever during a logon, and have this PPE allow your users to skip them for a quicker logon process. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 2. Packaging | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ Your zip file should contain the following files: LOGON .PPE The main PPE. LOGON .PPS Source code. LOGON .CFG Configuration file. LOGON .DAT Specify what occurs during a logon. LOGON .DOC Documentation (you are reading it now). HISTORY .DOC Revision History. OTHERDJP .DOC Other stuff I've written. FILE_ID .DIZ File (zip) description. PWA .NFO PWA info file. TSP .NFO My bbs ad. If any of these files are missing, be warned that you may have a copy that has been tampered with. If you have any extra files, they are extraneous and unnecessary. Typically, my bbs ad may not be there, which is not a problem. However, the idiots who contribute this to the fidonet backbone (usually originating from the Clipper Workshop BBS) edit the FILE_ID.DIZ, remove PWA.NFO and OTHERDJP.DOC, and insert their own bbs ad which is bigger than most ppe's. Just be aware, since who knows what other stupidities they may pull. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 3. Installation | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ Unzip the contents of this zip file into its own directory and simply put "!C:\PPE\LOGON\LOGON.PPE" (or whatever your path is) into a logon script or some other event during logon. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 4. Configuration | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ Edit "LOGON.DAT" and specify all PPE's, bulletins, or anything else you can think you want your users to see/experience during a logon process. Put "@PROMPT@" on a line by itself if you wish to allow the users to skip whatever remains in the logon process at any point. (Refer to the included LOGON.DAT for an example.) LOGON.DAT is also security level aware. If you have a certain logon sequence you wish to perform according to the user's security level, simply name the file LOGON.DAT, where is the security level. For example, LOGON30.DAT would be the logon process for a user with security level 30. If a security level specific logon file does not exist, LOGON.DAT is used. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 5. Other Program Information | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ This utility is FREEWARE. No registration is required and there are no nag screens. However, comments, suggestions and donations will certainly be accepted. :) If you find this little utility useful, feel free drop me a quick note. I included source in the first version of this PPE (which was released well over a year ago) and am including it again. Yet, why do people still continue writing more of these turbo logon PPE's??? Besides cosmetics, there isn't much more you could add to one of these things, especially since the source is available! I honestly hopes this puts an end to anyone else writing yet another turbo logon PPE. (I also hope this puts an end to bozo shareware authors asking for money for things like this also.) +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 6. Contacting the Author | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ I am rarely on IRC, so don't be a dork and bother other PWA members. Don't ask for source, and don't ask to be a distribution site, because we don't have any. You can reach me in the following ways: Internet email : drew@topaz.com Other : Attitude Net Peace, --Drew
