The program will run if there have been new files added to the system since the callers last logon. One important thing to note is that there will be more features added to this program real soon. I just want to release it as each new feature is added to avoid any problems down the line. HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS: ÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ The Program looks at all your files and comes up with the latest one added to your system. (This takes about 2 seconds!) and then it looks at the callers LAST LOGON DATE in there USERS file and compares the two. If a file was uploaded after there LAST LOGIN date then it will inform the caller that "NEW FILES HAVE BEEN UPLOADED TO THE SYSTEM" and will ask them if they want to look at the new files in (A)ll the directories or just the (U)pload directory. It then proceeds to show them the new files and affords them the opportunity to flag them for download or download them now. Then when completed it ends and continues with whatever you have next in your security specific file or news file (more about that later) Sounds like this program takes a lot of time to run? Well, it does'nt! All this occurs in a matter of seconds! (The scanning of the files may take longer depending on the caller and how long it takes them to read the file descriptions). I have just recently added to the program 2 new text lines... The first line will let the caller know when new files were uploaded and the second line will let them know when they last scanned the file directories. COMMAND LINES: ÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ I recommend placing the following lines at the end of your Security specific bulletins. Line XX - LEAVE THIS BLANK Line XX - LEAVE THIS BLANK Line XX - !C:\DIRECTORY OF PPE\NUSCAN.PPE I have received ALOT! of mail stating "What are security specific conferences?" Well, here we go... PCBoard has the ability to produce bulletins or news items for a specific security level. This is a plain text file named as the security level you wish to show it to. For example: If you wanted to show a special text or ANSI screen to only your callers with a security level of 20 then you would name that text file...20 An ANSI screen would be 20G. If you use PCBoard color codes you only need to make one file. No "20G" file is required. Then place that file in the DRIVE\PCB\GEN directory. Here is what my security specific file for level 80 (visiting SysOps) looks like: Ò Ò Â ÒÄÄ¿ Ò ÖÄÄ¿ ÖÄÄ¿ ÖÄÒÄ¿ ÒÄÄ¿ Ò Â ÄÒÄ ÖÄ¿ ÄÒÄ ÖÄÒÄ¿ ÄÒÄ ÖÄÄ¿ ÖÄÄ¿ º º ³ ÇÄ º º º ³ º º ³ ÇÄ Ó·ÚÙ º ÓÄ¿ º º º º ³ º Ä¿ ÓÄÐÄÙ ÐÄÄÙ ÐÄÄÙ ÓÄÄÙ ÓÄÄÙ Ð Ð Á ÐÄÄÙ ÓÙ ÄÐÄ ÓÄÄÙ ÄÐÄ Ð ÄÐÄ Ð Á ÓÄÄÙ ÜÛÛÛÛÛÛÛÜ ÜÛÛÜ ÜÛÛÜ ÜÛÛÛÛÛÛÛÜ ÜÛÛÛÛÛÛÛÜ ÜÛÛÛÛÛÛÛÛÜ ÛÛÛÛß ßÛÛÛÛ ßÛÛÛÛÜÛÛÛÛß ÛÛÛÛß ßÛÛÛÛ ÛÛÛÛßßßÛÛÛÛ ÛÛÛß ßÛÛÛ ßÛÛÛÛÛÜÜ ßÛÛÛÛÛß ßÛÛÛÛÛÜÜ ÛÛÛ ÛÛÛ ÛÛÛÜ ÜÛÛÛ ßßÛÛÛÛÛÜ ÛÛÛ ßßÛÛÛÛÛÜ ÛÛÛ ÛÛÛ ÛÛÛÛÛÛÛÛÛß ÛÛÛÛÜ ÜÛÛÛÛ ÛÛÛ ÛÛÛÛÜ ÜÛÛÛÛ ÛÛÛÛÜÜÜÛÛÛÛ ÛÛÛÛ ßÛÛÛÛÛÛÛß ßÛß ßÛÛÛÛÛÛÛß ßÛÛÛÛÛÛÛß ßÛÛß @WAIT@ !C:\PCB\PPL\INFO.PPE !C:\PCB\PPL\NUSCAN\NUSCAN.PPE <-- Here is my command to run the NUSCAN.PPE --END-- This prorgram can also be used in your NEWS file just by placing the command, either at the beginning of the file or the end. But be aware that you must set your NEWS file in PCBSETUP to run all the time and not just when updated or it will not run the way it was intended. You can also use this screen in a specific conference. Make a text file named INTRO and add the above 3 lines. Make sure that you have the location of the INTRO file named in the conference, in your PCBSETUP. (Choose Conferences from PCBSETUP, pick the conference you wish to show the file in and make sure the location of the INTRO file is filled in.) CONFIGURATION File (NUSCAN.CFG): ÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ Due to requests from some users of NUSCAN, I have added a config file to change the colors. Lines #1 through #4 are PCB color codes. In the NUSCAN.CFG file it will explain what each one does. I highly recommend using PCBEDIT to edit this file unless you remember what each PCB color code is :-) Another configuration option is specifying the use of another UPLOAD area than that configured in PCBoard. If you want to use a different file area as your upload area mark line #5 as YES (all CAPITALS!) and on line #6 enter the area to use. A more detailed explanation is given in the NUSCAN.CFG file. WARNING TEXT FILE ÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ A more recent option added is the ability to change the text file shown to the caller when they choose to scan for new files. If you want to change the text, edit the file WARNING.TXT If you don't want the file shown at all (not recommended) you can just delete it. NUSCAN.KEY File ÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ Once you register this program place the REGISTRATION number you receive on line #1 of this file. Otherwise, leave this number as is.
