Introduction | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ Enhanced User Lister is a PCBoard PPE replacement for your USERS command. It features numerous configuration options, including the ability to display a variety of statistics that the default (built-in) user lister does not. The best way to find out more about this PPE is to try it out. Since this was compiled with PPLC 3.0, you must be running PCBoard v15.2 or higher in order to use this. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 2. Packaging | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ Your zip file should contains the following files: USER.BOT Footer display file. USER.CFG Configuration file. USER.EXC User exclusion file. USER.TOP Header display file. USER.SEC Alternate text show for security levels. USER.DOC Documentation (you are reading it now). USER.PPE The PPE itself. S_AMIX.ZIP Sample configuration - Ami/X style. S_FORUM.ZIP Sample configuration - Forum/Vision-X style. S_TSP.ZIP Sample configuration - Phalanx style. :) HISTORY.DOC Revision history. OTHERDJP.DOC Other stuff I've written. FILE_ID.DIZ File (zip) description. PWA.NFO PWA info file. TSP.NFO My bbs ad. If any of these files are missing, be warned that you may have a copy that has been tampered with. If you have any extra files, they are extraneous and unnecessary. Typically, my bbs ad may not be there, which is not a problem. However, the idiots who contribute this to the fidonet backbone (usually originating from the Clipper Workshop BBS) edit the FILE_ID.DIZ, remove PWA.NFO and OTHERDJP.DOC, and insert their own bbs ad which is bigger than most ppe's. Just be aware, since who knows what other stupidities they may pull. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 3. Installation | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ If you are upgrading from any previous version, you must reinstall as the entire setup has changed. To install this PPE, simply add this to your CMD.LST, either as a new command, or as a replacement for the "USERS" command. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 4. Configuration | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ USER.CFG is the main configuration file. There are several options which you may want to experiment with. Otherwise, entries in here are more or less textually based, so configuration should be fairly easy. USER.EXC is the user exclusion file. If you have set this option to "yes" inside of USER.CFG, then this file is used. Enter user names, one per line, of the users you do not wish to have shown up in the user listing. USER.SEC is for text printed in place of a security level that is printed. If you are printing security levels, then you may wish to have it say some- thing like "SysOp" instead of the actual level you have (typically, 110). This feature works for any (definable) security level. USER.TOP and USER.BOT are the header and footer files, respectively. S_TSP.ZIP, S_FORUM.ZIP, and S_AMIX.ZIP are sample configuration files for you to take a look at and/or use. S_TSP.ZIP contains the same configuration as the one on seen on my system. S_FORUM.ZIP contains a setup that you find on many Forum style systems (ie: Vision-X). S_AMIX.ZIP contains a setup that is typical of an AMI/X board. These are included to show you the flexibility this PPE has (and to use for those lazy sysops :) ). +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 5. Last Words | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ If you look at the history file, you'll notice that the last update to this was back in late July. I decided to dig this up and rewrite the entire thing to make things run more smoothly (and also, seeing the old PPL 2.0 code was disgusting). Otherwise, if you need to reach me for some reason, you can send internet email to "drew@xinet.com", or leave me a message on Attitude Net, or call my board: The Silicon Phalanx at 310-575-8567 and apply for access.
