Introduction | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ Enhanced One-Liners is your typical one-liners PPE that has been beaten to a pulp over the past couple of years in PPE programming. Nothing in this PPE is 100% original, but rather, it takes a lot of good features from many other one-liners and puts it altogether here. It features: - on-the-fly PCBoard color code interpretation - foreground & background color changing using the arrow keys - stores one-liners information in a DBASE database, so no mucking around with a messy text file - definable security level options (viewing authors, deleting one-liners, and bypassing "view-only" mode) - definable external text filter, to remove text that users shouldn't be adding to a one-liner (ie: PCBoard @-macros) - 100% complete source code for your ripping, err, modification pleasure. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 2. Packaging | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ Your zip file should contain the following files: EONE.PPE The main PPE itself. EONE.CFG Configuration file EONE.DOC Documentation (you are reading it now). COLORS Help screen for available color codes MENU One-liners menu HELP One-liners help screen FILTER Filter for unwanted text OTHERDJP.DOC Other stuff I've written. FILE_ID.DIZ File (zip) description. PWA.NFO PWA info file. TSP.NFO My bbs ad. If any of these files are missing, be warned that you may have a copy that has been tampered with. If you have any extra files, they are extraneous and unnecessary. +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 3. Installation | +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ You will most likely want to put this in your logon process somewhere. Simply stick in "!C:\PPE\EONE\EONE.PPE" (or whatever your path is) in your logon script. Additionally, you may want to install this off of your main menu as an additional command. In these situations, you may only want the users to view the one-liners and not add any (imagine if you let users add one-liners off the main menu: one lame user could erase all existing ones and replace them all with lame ones written entirely by that user). If you would like to only allow viewing, add the ppe to your CMD.LST and give it a "VIEW" parameter: "!C:\PPE\EONE\EONE.PPE VIEW" The view feature only applies to users with a security level lower than the level defined in EONE.CFG (see below for configuration details). +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 4. Configuration | +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ EONE.CFG contains all configuration options for Enhanced One-Liners. It contains mostly text strings for you to customize accordingly with the look of your system. The configuration file is well-documented and should provide all that you need to know. The file "FILTER" contains text strings which will be filtered out of a one-liner. I've included all the PCBoard @-macros in it already, which should be plenty enough. But if you find the need to filter out more (or less) text, simple add/delete lines into this file. The only other thing that may require more explaining is the security level defined in the config file. Anyone at this level or higher is allowed to delete any one-liner, view the authors of the one-liners, and finally, skip the "view-only" mode of the ppe. if a user has a security level greater than or equal to the defined leve, that user may access the additional commands via the main input prompt, "Add a one-liner?". Hitting "W" will list the authors, hitting "L" will redisplay the one-liners, and "D" will prompt for which one-liner to delete. +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 5. Contacting the Author | +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ I am rarely on IRC, so don't be a dork and bother other PWA members. Don't ask me : 1. For source code 2. To be a PWA distribution site, because we don't have any 3. For sites on the internet to find PPE's If you do any of the above, don't expect a reply from me. :) You can reach me in the following ways: Internet email : drew@topaz.com My System : The Silicon Phalanx Other : Attitude Net Peace, --Drew
