A fee of $8 is required to update to this version. Please see the section in the documentation for upgrading. (As this process is much different from registration) . Lots of new requests, so pardon the slew of releases, please note that these are feature upgrades and not bug fixes . . We are performing a new check now for the picture attachment feature. We used to use a control byte, signifying that there was a picture present, but now we are doing an actual picture search. User Profile will only show a picture as being available if there really is a file by that name in the \PIXS\ subdir. You will have to ensure that there is a sub dir called (something like) C:\PCB\PPE\PROFILE\PIXS on your hard drive, and that your downloadable pictures will reside in there. This is being done as we are writing a utility that will *merge* User Profile databases, so that they can be spread out over mail networks, and we would not want the Profile showing that there was a picture present when there really wan't. Look for WAP (Wide Area Profiler) shortly. . Added the ability for a user to enter a name in the quick view section and get a full profile on that user. New cleaner prompts. . Fixed a possible bug in the commandline parameter to turn off alias usage in profiler. . Added the ability to delete an "old" PROFILE.ALP backup file if you want to do multiple alphabitizing's. Now you get prompted. Quick and simple. . Added a message to all users who did not complete the full user profile. the message is stored in a file called WHY.NOT, and it is completely configurable by the sysop. Again this will only send a message to those users who *did not* answer the complete profile. . Added a GENERIC.MSG function that you can use to send a message (called GENERIC.MSG, stored in the profile subdir, can contain anything you want) to all users in your profile.dat user base. Handy for letting everybody know about new stuff. . Added the ability for a user to enter a message (more like a note) into any messae conf area they want. Directly from the full listing area, user has complete control over Subject, Return Receipt, and message content. . Added a lock list so that people could lock people out form sending them from User Profiler. Won't stop them from exiting and entering a message but slows the really annoying ones down a bit. . Changed three prompts in the Profile code itself. . Added the Average User Age in the "A" hidden menu command. . Added the total number of males in the "A" hidden menu command. . Added the Total number of females in the "A" hidden menu command. . Fixed the Usage count, wasn't incrementing...now it is! . Numerous optimizations and code rewriting. þ 06-29-94 Version 1.9 . Added an "escape" to the full list function, seems that some sysops are getting databases in the hundreds of users, and it was taking a looonnnggg time to page through them all, so now you are able to exit from the list. . Added the ability to alphabitize your PROFILE.DAT file, keeps users form seeing who is who (with alias usage). It is a new command in the STUD.PPE. Please note that after you run the alphabitizing command that a backup file of your PROFILE.DAT will be created called PROFILE.ALP. . Some code changes, some for speed, some for distribution (no longer will there be a "sample" key distributed, to many registered users where overwriting there own). þ 06-27-94 Version 1.8 . I added a small flashing dot in the quick display area so that the users could see who had compelted a full survey, and those who didn't. Added a header bar, so that people would not get lost in all the data that is presented. . I added a function in the STUD.PPE that will allow the sysop to send bulk mail to all users that entered their basic info, but never completed the full question set. It will send a canned message that you can change, only to those recalcitrant users. Pack out date is set to the same day the message is left, so no problems with cluttered message bases. Also it will allow you to designate the conf to leave the message in. Another Freebie! þ 06-26-94 Version 1.7 . Ok, I realized that we had to have some way of editing a users basic record, if they happen to make a mistake, it will take a lot of the fun out of matching. SO now in the STUD.PPE we have a complete editor for sysop use, to allow you to change any users basic info, Sex, Birth Date, Sexual Preference, Marital Status, Height, Weight, Hair or even their Eye color. . While I was at it, I redid a bit of the Profile code to speed up searches. Will display a full profile much faster now. . Added a command line paramater, BLT, which you can use to show your users how many users are in the Profile Database, as well as break it down by Males and Females. Set it up and forget! Check the docs for easy setup for this free add on! þ 06-25-94 Version 1.6 . Added the ability for a GIF picture to be attached to a users profile. A new tool added into the STUD.PPE will allow the sysop to manage the GIF's. Simple and easy. Please see the docs for a complete run down. (Actually any type of picture can be attached for download). . Added a designator to the (F) Full List command (from the main menu), this designator will show whether or not the user has an attached PICTURE file (be it a GIF, TIFF, PCX, or even an ascii representation). þ 06-15-94 Version 1.5 . Sorry about the quick release here, but I was able to solve a few problems and thought it warranted a release. . Handled the Birth Date problem, now users will be prompted for their brithdate if they do not enter it in the required format. . Added a bit to STUD.PPE, added a key word PACK OUT that will remove any blank names, and pacl the data base file. . Reworked some code to optimize speed, looks like we picked up 25%. þ 06-14-94 Version 1.4 . Updated the help screen a bit, (really just a tiny change) but it ought to be a little clearer to your users. . Redid a bit of code, seems that the multiple CLS commands were fixed, but it looks like the counter was not being reset, so multiple (remote) screen clears would show on the caller side. Has been fixed (finally) and now the matching screens look pretty great! . Added a new question set to this release, look for two seperate question sets, one called ADULT.ZIP (raunchy and very adult!), and GENERAL.ZIP (suitable for the whole family). Let me know if you come up with a new question set, I will include it with subsequent releases. . Have had a few requests for features, look for them in the next few releases. þ 06-10-94 Version 1.3 . New add-on program for you! Sysop Tool for User Deletion (STUD for short) allows you, the sysop to delete users from the PROFILE.DAT. file, very easy to use, just hit an S and enter in the user name you want to delete. See the docs for a full explanation. . Some minor code modifications, mostly for speed. þ 06-01-94 Version 1.2 . Found a display bug, if you did a match and had more than 7 or 8 people your user database, PROFILE would issue multiple CLS commands, ostensibly putting one user name per screen. This has been changed to allow up to 16 names per screen. Looks much nicer now. . Added a tool in PROFILE that will allow sysops to delete user's from the PROFILE.DAT, look for it in the next release. þ 04-25-94 Version 1.1 . Ok, I had a buglet in the Profile entering code, it seems that if you had gone into the matching section without answering the full profile, then you tried to enter your full profile, it would show as you already did, not letting you answer, this has been fixed. (Thanks Andy Hermanson - Wizards BBS). . Had a user tell me that the initial questions might be a tad to personal so I added a "none of your business" response to the two difficult ones. Code was changed to reflect this in the short user summary, and in the matching section. . Rewrote the KEY reg routines, all of you that have registered can now call up and grab the newest key from the support conf. (type key, then choose PROFILER). þ 04-22-94 Version 1.0 . Initial release 1 month debugging, looks good. A few things waiting in the wings for version 1.1. Keep an eye peeled.
