SysOps have many needs, some of them are solved directly by this program. If your needs are absolute security, or if you need to help users with certain difficulties in connecting with your BBS or if due to vagaries in the local phone company, it may very be a no-cost call for you to call back a user, who it may cost a long distance call to call you. Any way you look at it, your users will appreciate your thoughtfulness in putting this Door up for them. System Requirements: Any BBS that is running PCB 15.2x will be able to take advantage to all that CallMe has to offer, memory requirements while running is a scant 15k. You will also need a modem attached to your PCB setup (but we assume you do). Setup: First thing to do is to create directory, in this example we use the directory called C:\PCB\PPE\CALLME you can name yours anything you want just make sure you place it correctly in your CMD.LST file. Now unzip the ZIP that you received, into this new directory, you will find the following: CALLME.PPE - The main program, where all the juice is! CALLME.CFG - The simple configuration file for CallMe, more later on this. HISTORY.DOC - A history of the changes that make up CallMe. CALLME.DOC - These doc's. FILE_ID.DIZ - Program Description File DESC.SDI - Program Description File REGISTER.FRM - Registration Form PRODUCTS.TXT - Product List from PCS Load PCBSM and go into B - File Locations, then B - Configuration Files then go down to the Name/Loc of Default CMD.LST File, press the F2 key and you will be presented with a screen that looks like: File Locations Command Security PPE/MNU File -or- Keystroke Replacement ÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ ÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ ÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ 1) CALLME 0 C:\PCB\PPE\CALLME\CALLME.PPE When you are done entering this information, just hit the ESC key and answer Y to save the configuration. Now you will need to edit your CallMe.CFG file, this is a simple process and shouldn't take you but a minute. The file looks like: Bob Watson ;1 The SysOps Full Name The TAO BBS ;2 The BBS Name 0000000 ;3 The Registration Number (00000000 if unregistered) 609 ;4 Your BBS Home Area-Code 609-587-2672 ;5 Your BBS Main Number (for display purpose) ATDT ;6 The type of dialing you want your modem to do NONE ;7 Password to allow access - NONE for no Password. Line 1 - Simple, your Name as you entered it when you registered Callme If this program is unregistered, case is unimportant, if it is registered, then you will have to enter it as you did when you created your KEY number. Line 2 - Your BBS Name, again, if this program is unregistered, then case is unimportant, if it is registered, please enter it exactly as you did when you created your KEY number. Line 3 - Your KEY number, you can receive this number immediately by calling to The TAO BBS, more on this later. If this program is unregistered then you might as well leave it as it is. (although you could try all the variations, there are only a few billion of them ). Line 4 - Your local area code, this is the area code that is your own local area code, the CallMe program will use this number to determine if a call is a local one (then it strips off the area code and does not add a 1), or if it is a long distance call, and in that case it adds a one and does not strip off the area code. Line 5 - Your BBS Main number, this is used for display purposes to your users also it is used to get the length of usable number, please maintain the format of XXX-XXX-XXXX do not add ( or ). Line 6 - This is the dial type that you use, you can either have TONE dialing and in that case you would have ATDT here, or you can have PULSE dialing which would mean that you would place ATDP in this line. Line 7 - This is the password that you want to use, your users will be asked for a password to access CallMe, case is unimportant here as it will automatically convert the users answer to all upper case. If there is the word NONE here, then your users will not be asked for a password. The user gets one shot at entering the correct password, if they get it wrong they are informed that they are wrong and they are placed back on the BBS. Your password can be up to 13 characters long. The last thing that you will need to do is to add the command CALLME to any BRDM file that you want to. Or add it into your doors list, however you want to present it to your callers. Let your imagination go wild. Registerered or Non-Registerered: The difference between registered and non-registered version of this program are only a couple, namely the non-registered version only allows the user 5 minutes of on-line time after a successful callback (hey, I know this really is bad, but it is the only thing I could think of to help you all to register this), and a small beg screen, asking your users to help you register it. After registration, all delays, and beg screens are removed also your users time is not reduced in any way. Registration is only $10.00.
