Registering Dir.Lst Ä Ascii ----------------------------- Dir.Lst Ä Ascii is free software. This program did require time to create. If you'd like to send a donation of $5.00 or so, send them to the address listed in at the end of this document. What Is Dir.Lst Ä Ascii ------------------------- Dir.Lst Ä Ascii is a program that will allow you to take a PCBoard DIR.LST file and convert to to straight ascii so it can be edited with any standard ascii editor. It will then take the file and convert it back to the DIR.LST format. Setting Up PCBoard News Editor ------------------------------ There is no configuration file. There are three command line arguments that must be specified in order for the program to run. They are: -C: This parameter tills the program which type of conversion you wish to make. 1 - Convert Dir.Lst Ä Ascii 2 - Convert Ascii Ä Dir.Lst -D: The name of the DIR.LST file to use, including full pathname. -A: The name of the Ascii file to use, including full pathname. Example Command Syntax: DIR2ASC -C:1 -D:DIR.LST -A:DIR.ASC This will take the DIR.LST file in the current directory and convert it into the file DIR.ASC to be edited. Editing the Ascii File ---------------------- The converted file will be in the following format: F:\BBS\GEN\DIR1 ,F:\BBS\DL01\ ,_ Files For All Callers ,1 That info stands for: DIR Path, Disk Path, Desc, Sort Type. The first field, DIR Path, can be up to 30 characters in length and contains the path and filename of the DIR file. This file contains the file desc. information for that particular file directory. The second field, Disk Path, can hold up to 30 characters also and contains the path of the files that are available in the DIR file. The third field, Desc, can be up to 35 characters in length and contains the description for the files. The last field , Sort Type, contains information on how you want the DIR file displayed: 0 - no sort 1 - Sort by File Name (ascending) 2 - Sort by File Date (ascending) 3 - Sort by File Name (descending) 4 - Sort by File Date (descending) Be sure to have the fields separated by a commas. The whole entire should be no more than 99 characters long. NOTE: The commas must be in located in columns 31, 62, and 98! And that's it!
