Cam-Mail Update for PCBoard 15.0 The file you just downloaded is for the updated version of Cam-Mail to work with PCBoard 15.0. If you are still using PCBoard 14.5a or below, do NOT use any of these files. New file formats have been added to PCBoard which required Cam-Mail to be updated to work with the new file formats. The following files should of been in the file you download: CAM-MAIL.EXE - The updated EXE for the Mail Door (COMPORT SUPPORT) FCAM-MAI.EXE - The updated EXE for the Mail Door (FOSSIL SUPPORT) CAM-OS2.EXE - The updated EXE for the Mail Door (COMPORT SUPPORT) for those that are running under OS/2. IMPORT.EXE - The updated EXE to import echo mail from another BBS. HISTORY - Changes that have been made. READNOW.DOC - The file you are reading now. FILE_ID.DIZ - File Description for BBS's. Simply copy the EXE files to your CAM-MAIL directory to update. This new version uses the .IDX format. If you do not use any other software that requires the .NDX format, you do not need to use the /OLDINDEX switch with PCBPack or with the SET PCB=/OLDINDEX environment. Cam-Mail basically uses the same technology the PCBoard uses when it comes to dealing with the new .IDX. If the file hasn't been updated, Cam-Mail will update it while downloading a QWK packet or uploading a REP packet. If you have software that requires the .NDX format still, then use the /OLDINDEX switch in CAM-MAIL.EXE and the IMPORT.EXE file (if you're using it). Cam-Mail will update both the .IDX file and the .NDX file for compatibility. I highly suggest that if you are using software that is still using this format to get the author to update the code so you can delete those unwanted .NDX files (In other words, you're just wasting HD space). You will need to modify your MAIL batch file to look something like this: CD \CAM-MAIL CAM-MAIL.EXE C:\PCB NO /SWAP /NOWINDOW /OLDINDEX PCBoard 15.0 has changed the name of the PCB145.EXE to PCBOARD.EXE. Prescan and LocalCam will use this new name to work properly. Do NOT rename the PCBOARD.EXE to PCB145.EXE, otherwise, you'll run into problems. For those of you who are low on memory, a new switch has been added to the CAM-MAIL/FCAM-MAI.EXE files. It's called /SWAP. If you want Cam-Mail to swap itself out to memory/disk before shelling to dos for external protocols or the archivers, please add that switch to the CAM-MAIL/FCAM-MAI.EXE command line switch in your MAIL batch file. Example: CAM-MAIL.EXE C:\PCB NO /SWAP This is only an UPDATE at this point for the .IDX file format and a fix for the USERS.SYS (so the "O" isn't needed in the PCBOARD.DAT) some other bugs that have been found. A file called HISTORY should detail the information for more detailed information. If you have downloaded this file in attempt to install the Cam-Mail Door, you will need the CAM-M130.ZIP to do a FULL INSTALL. If you run into any problems, please call the support BBS at 801-489-3558 [HST 16.8K DS]. You may also call voice Tuesday - Friday from 8am to 6pm. On Saturdays from 9am to Noon. The VOICE number is 801-489-4878. We are not available on Sundays or Mondays. Enjoy and most of all, have fun running your BBS!!!! --Cam-- p.s. Look for version 1.40 to support file attachments and some of the other features that have been added to PCBoard 15.0.
