PCBEVENT patch v1.00 by APz =========================== Short documentation. You know the problem - event won't run after 12-31-99. Here's the solution - a program that will patch PCBoard's executables. It will work on all version 15 PCBoards. All platforms are supported. Before you use the program, please note that I don't give any kind of guarantees about this program. Make a backup of all your important files before using this program. If you're not interested in taking big backup, backup atleast the executables you're going to patch with this program. You use this program completely with your own risk. Patching PCBoard executables: 1) Shut down all your nodes (and software that may access PCBOARD executables like mailers and so on). 2) Backup the executables you're patching 3) Run PATCH.EXE Enter the name of the executable to patch as a parameter. The patcher will scan thru the file (it may take several minutes on slow computer, scanning the OS/2 executable will take longer than DOS-versions) and ask for a new date. The problem with the events is that PCBoard seems to handle "disabled" events by marking their rundate as 12-31-99. By changing the date, you can make PCBoard events run again. When the patcher ask you for a date, enter 79. This will make PCBoard to work until 2079. If you type 80 to the date field, PCBoard will interpret it as 1980 and events wont run. If you want to cancel the patch, patch the file again and enter 99 as date. *** IMPORTANT! *** Patching the executable will mess events that run on specific day of week. For example, events that should run on Monday, will run on Saturday. This is easy to workaround - if you want event to run on Monday, make it run on Wednesday in pcbsetup event editor. The program is free. I personally think that authors of small shareware utils should be hanged or shot. I can be contacted at apz@finbox.nullnet.fi.
