POSTIT.EXE is a small Windows 95 desktop utility called "Post It".

Post It is useful for keeping notes and reminders on your Windows 95 desktop, rather than on hard to find little pieces of paper.

Post It is shareware.  The price is U.S.$15

A little yellow icon is placed on the Taskbar when Post It is launched.

Click the LEFT mouse button on the yellow Post It Taskbar icon to open the Post
It window.
Clicking the RIGHT mouse button on the Post It Taskbar icon will open a configuration menu.

The following Shortcut Keys will function in the open Post It window :

ESC : Minimize the Post Window to the Task bar icon
F2  : Save NOW the contents of Post It. (Default is saved when closing Post It)
Alt-F4 or Alt-X : Exit Post It
Ctrl-A : Select All
Alt-D  : Delete the whole note.
Alt-F  : Select default Font.
F1 : Help
F2 : Save now!

The open Post It window will cycle through 10 different pages.  Click on the left and right arrows next to the page numbers to cycle through the pages.

You can open 4 different Post-It windows.

Post It will allow you to set alarms. To set an alarm, insert, in the note, the
DATE that you want the alarm to activate, as follows:

@01/12/96 (European format)
or
@12.01.96 (U.S.A. format)

The note will appear with an alert box when the day is reached. (The examples above will generate an alarm on December 1, 1996.)  Then Post It will replace the '@' symbol with the '#' symbol indicating that the date for the alarm has passed.

If you don't want the Post It icon to appear on the Taskbar when the Post It Window is open, you can remove it. To do this, edit POSTIT.INI (in the Windows directory), by adding the following line in the [Post-It] section:

ToolWindow=1

When you restart Post It, the Post It Icon will not appear in the Taskbar, and the menu bar on the open Post It window will be a little smaller.
