What's New in Replicator For Windows Version 2.01 ÄÄ> New Utilities Options have been added to the Utilities screen to test the integrity of a compressed image file, and to rename an exising image file, in compressed or uncompressed format, and update the database to reflect the new name. A few minor problems have been fixed, and several error messages have been expanded to provide the user with more assistance for troubleshooting the condition that caused the error. See the file REPWIN.REV for details. What's New in Replicator For Windows Version 2.00 ÄÄ> DMF Support!!!!! Thanks to all of our users who requested (and in some cases, demanded) that we implement DMF support. Replicator will now make copies of your Microsoft DMF disks, and yes, it will even format existing 3.5" high-density disks as DMF format. Note: Windows 3.x users may experience "Sector Not Found" errors reading and writing the DMF format. We strongly urge you to perform DMF reading and writing using Windows 95 or Windows NT. We will be working on addressing these issues in Windows 3.x in a future release. ÄÄ> New Interface! We've attempted to make Replicator For Windows v2.00 as easy to use as possible. We've simplified the interface, and made it so that all functions (copying & creating disks, accessing the database, etc) are available from the main screen. We hope you like the new look! ÄÄ> Many New Database Features! This version of Replicator For Windows adds MANY new database features. Sort the database by the filename, location, or any of the first 5 lines in the description field. Tag records for deletion or printing. Browse all database records, only the tagged records, or only the search results records... it's your choice! Update the location field on all records in the database, only the tagged records, or only the current record. Update the file list from an inserted disk, or completely recreate the disk image using the inserted disk! What's New in Replicator For Windows Version 1.05 ÄÄ> Windows 95 / Client 32 Work-Around Replicator For Windows Version 1.05 contains a work-around for a "Volume Not Locked" error message that occurs under Windows 95 when Novell's Client 32 is installed. If you are using Novell's Client 32 in combination with Windows 95, and you are running Replicator from a network drive, you may be experiencing "Volume Not Locked" error messages when attempting to access your floppy drive(s). To work around this problem, Replicator needs to be executed from a local hard drive. Select "Windows 95 / Client 32" from the Settings menu, and install a local copy of Replicator for Client 32 support. Then change the path on your Windows 95 Replicator icon to point to the new Page 1 executable file on your local drive. The local installation of Replicator will look at the network drive and directory to find the database and help files. This allows Windows 95 workstations on a network to continue using the database in network mode, without worrying about some of the problems introduced by Client 32. If you have both Windows 95 and Windows 3.1 workstations on your network, the Windows 3.1 workstations should continue to execute Replicator from the network drive. What's New in Replicator For Windows Version 1.04 ÄÄ> Maintenance Release Replicator For Windows Version 1.04 is a maintenance release that fixes several problems. An error "Invalid Argument To Time Encode" would occur occasionally when attempting to retrieve information from the disk being replicated. This problem has been fixed. Change have been made on the Database Management screen to include an embedded tool palette, and a few problems have been fixed in the searching routines. For a complete list of changes, see the file REPWIN.REV. What's New in Replicator For Windows Version 1.03 ÄÄ> New Database Browser! Replicator For Windows Version 1.03 contains a new database browser with the following features: Column Dividers, Proportionally-Spaced Font, Sizeable Headings, Incremental Search Capability, and a Right-Click Popup Menu to allow users to change the current sort field! Several other cosmetic issues have also been addressed. See the file REPWIN.REV for detailed information. ÄÄ> Fix For Potential Data Corruption Bug - READ THIS! This version of Replicator For Windows implements a new vendor's library for the compression and decompression of Replicator's image files. STSI regrets to report that we found a data-corruption bug in our previous vendor's compression library. After reporting the bug and waiting several weeks, the vendor was not able (or willing) to resolve the issue and fix the bug. Instead, we have purchased a new compression library that achieves tighter compression, is faster, and is designed for use in Windows applications. We recommend that all current users obtain a copy of the latest version of PKUNZIP.EXE, and test any compressed files (*.ZIP) for possible errors. The data corruption bug appears to be somewhat obscure, and would have been present in Replicator For Windows versions 1.00 through 1.02. (In our case, we found 5 verified problem files in a total of 700 disks.) If you have a bad compressed file, PKUNZIP will report a CRC error on the file. In this case, you will need to locate the original disk and recreate the image. We apologize for any inconvenience to our users. What's New in Replicator For Windows Version 1.02 Page 2 ÄÄ> Interface Improvements, Printing Enhancements! Replicator For Windows Version 1.02 includes many interface improvements. Users should find the Database Management screen MUCH easier to use and navigate. A floating tool palette has been added to provide quick access to the most commonly used functions. The help system is now context- sensitive. Printing has also been enhanced to allow users to print all records in the database, and to specify the font that should be used when printing to a printer.
