Sample Extensions

If you have installed Microsoft® Exchange Chat Service version 5.5 SP1 or later, the chat server extension samples are included with the online documentation and can be found in the chat service installation directory (normally C:\Inetpub\Chat) in the Documentation\Samples subdirectory. The sample extensions are also located on the Web at http://www.microsoft.com/technet/appfarm.

The following chat server extensions are written in Microsoft Visual Basic®:

• ChannelBlock Sample: This extension monitors the creation of channels and disallows those that are named using "blocked" strings.

• CustomCommand Sample: This extension implements a custom protocol command.

• LogMonitor Sample: This extension monitors for chat users login/logout notifications.

• MangleTopic Sample: This extension modifies channel topics by removing non-alphabetic characters.

The following chat server extensions are written in Microsoft Visual C++®:

• LogMonitor Sample: This extension monitors for chat users login/logout notifications.

• MsgFilter Sample: This extension monitors the text sent to a channel and filters all occurrences of any words it has defined in its filter list.

The ChannelBlock, LogMonitor, and MsgFilter samples also demonstrate how to implement administrative property pages for your chat server extension.
