Creating an Extension with Visual Basic

Extensions can be written using Microsoft® Visual Basic® 5.0 (SP2 and above). The following checklist summarizes the steps needed to create a chat server extension in Visual Basic:

• Create a new "ActiveX DLL" project.
• Implement the callback interfaces.
• Fill in the minimum interface requirements.
• Build a binary compatible version.
• Register and install your component.

The following are examples of chat server extensions written in Visual Basic:

• ChannelBlock Sample: This extension monitors the creation of channels and disallows those that are named using "blocked" strings.

• CustomCommand Sample: This extension implements a custom protocol command.

• LogMonitor Sample: This extension monitors for chat users login/logout notifications.

• MangleTopic Sample: This extension modifies channel topics by removing nonalphabetic characters.
