Filtering Private Messages, Channel Names, or Nicknames

Complete the following steps to apply a filter to private messages, channel names, or nicknames.

To filter private messages, channel names, or nicknames

  1. From the Chat Service Manager utility, select a chat server under Microsoft Exchange Chat Service in the left pane.
  2. Select Extensions in the left pane.
  3. Verify that the Profanity Filter extension is displayed in the right pane. If it is not, from the Action menu, choose New, and then choose Add extension. Select the Profanity Filter extension, and then choose OK.
  4. Select the Profanity Filter extension in the right pane, and then from the Action menu, choose Properties.
  5. Under Select filter for, select the filter you want to apply to private messages, channel names, or nicknames, and then choose OK.

Tip You can also apply a different filter to private messages, channel names, or nicknames using the following commands from a chat client:

EXTMSG PFILTER SET PRIVATE=filter_name
EXTMSG PFILTER SET CHANNELNAMES=filter_name
EXTMSG PFILTER SET NICKNAMES=filter_name
