Saving the Console

Saving a console to a file preserves its list of loaded snap-ins and window configuration for later use. After you save a console, you can deliver it on a floppy disk or put it in a shared folder on your network. You can prevent users from changing the console either by turning on the read-only file attribute or by giving users read-only access to a shared folder. Console files have a default extension of .msc.

1. On the File menu, click Save As.
2. In File name, type a name for the file, and then click Save.

• Provide read-only access to a shared location on the network.

  Or, In the file properties of the saved console, change the file attribute to Read-only.
