The Internet Message Access Protocol, Version 4rev1 (IMAP4rev1) enables users with any IMAP4rev1 client (that is compliant with RFC 2060) to access mail in their Microsoft Exchange Server mailbox. It can also be used to read and post messages to public folders, or to access another user's mailbox that they have been granted access to.
Note Because of limitations in the IMAP4 protocol, you cannot use an IMAP4 client to access folders that use slash marks (/) in their name. To access these folders, you must rename them so they don't use a slash mark (/).
