Foreign X.400 System Configuration

The connection from the foreign X.400 system to the Microsoft Exchange Server must be established by configuring the foreign system with details about the X.400 Connector. It does not matter if the server or the foreign X.400 system is configured first.

To configure a foreign system, complete the following tasks:

• Determine how the X.400 Connector is to be configured to send messages to the foreign system, including the options for X.400 conformance, stack, and address information.
• Determine what information about the server is needed to configure the foreign X.400 system MTA. If the Microsoft Exchange Server is configured before the foreign system, use the Administrator program to gather the information.
• Configure the foreign MTA to receive messages from the Microsoft Exchange Server using the configuration procedure or utility for the foreign X.400 system.

Microsoft Exchange Server accepts several content and body part types. For reliable message exchange, verify that the configuration of the server and the foreign X.400 system match.
