General Properties

Use the General property page to provide a name for the connector, specify the cost of the connector, and specify the messaging bridgehead server in the local site.

Note   If you are installing a new Site Connector, the General property page appears automatically after you choose New Other from the File menu, and then choose Site Connector.

Getting to the General property page

  1. In the Administrator window, choose Connections.
  2. Double-click the Site Connector to be modified.
  3. Select the General tab.

Specifying the Connector Name

Use the General property page to define a name for the Site Connector. The directory name cannot be changed once it is entered.

  1. Select the General tab.
  2. Type the directory name and the display name.

Option Description
Display name Type the name (up to 256 alphanumeric characters) that will be displayed in the Administrator window. This name is not case-sensitive.
Directory name Type an informative and descriptive name (up to 64 alphanumeric characters). This permanent name identifies the Site Connector in the directory and is used in event log messages. You can modify this name only when creating a Site Connector. This name is not case-sensitive.

Assigning a Routing Cost

You can set a routing cost of the message transfer from the local site to the remote site.

  1. Select the General tab.
  2. Specify the Cost.

Option Description
Cost Type a cost between 1 and 100. The lowest cost of all active connections is chosen. The default is 1.

Setting a Messaging Bridgehead Server in the Local Site

You can select one server that is dedicated to sending messages to remote sites.

  1. Select the General tab.
  2. Select Any server or select Specific server, and type the name of the server.

Option Description
Any server Any server in the local site can send messages to the remote site. This is the default setting.
Specific server Select a specific server in the local site to send messages to the remote site.
