L9A 5H7 Canada Installing Telemate for Windows =============================== The following steps show how to install Telemate for Windows. 1) If Telemate for Windows come as a ZIP file, apply PKUNZIP.EXE to unzip TMW110.ZIP into any empty temporary directory on your hard drive. Otherwise, skip to step 2. 2) From Windows File Manager, run the SETUP.EXE from this directory. 3) The Setup program will prompt the directory Telemate to be installed to. You can change the directory if you want to. 4) After the Setup program is done, the Quick Configuration will guide you through a few steps to setup some basic options. 5) You may remove the files in the temporary directory as they are no longer need. Now you are ready to run Telemate for Windows. Upgrading from 1.00 to 1.10 =========================== Upgrading from 1.00 is simple, simply follow the installation procedure above and run SETUP.EXE. The Setup program will detect the older version and perform the upgrade procedure. Your configuration file, dialing directory and other data file will be preserved. What's new in Telemate ====================== Terminal . This version provides a faster and smoother scrolling. . Telemate will use a blue background in ANSI terminal emulation if you turn on the Override Color option in the Terminal Properties Dialog. . Bold font and better font matching are supported. . Blinking character and underline attribute are supported. . Macro Bar Dialog added the Clear, Up and Down buttons. Dialing Directory . The beloved Insert keyboard shortcut is back. When Insert key is pressed, Telemate will insert the current entry to the dialing queue and start dialing. Pressing the Insert key while dialing will add the next entry to the dialing queue. . The Quick Dial drop down is available in both Terminal Toolbar and the Dialing Directory Toolbar. . You can now find and replace text by column. . When the dial entry is connected, Telemate will guess the connection throughput and use it to calculate the CPS rate during a file transfer. . You can add and remove buttons from the Dial Directory Button Bar. . You can now import the phone directory from Telemate for DOS from the Edit menu in the Dialing directory. . You can now sort the dialing directory. Backscroll . Bold font and better font matching are supported. . Blinking character and underline attribute are supported. Editor . Bold font and better font matching are supported. . Telemate will now open .INI file in the internal editor by default, previously the Notepad is used. File Tag List . When you use the File... button to add files to the File Tag List, Telemate will store the directory and use it when you click the Send button to send the file. This allows you to select files that is not in the upload directory. Script . You can now compile a script without running it. . The Run Script macro symbol ^\ is supported. Others . When running in Windows 95, the toolbars and button bars adopt the native look and feel. . Telemate keeps a usage log on the activities in a Telemate session. . You can specify command line parameters to create Windows 95 shortcut, override the default dialing directory and dial a specific dial entry, run a script or open text files and GIF images at start up.
