WinGate 2.0 is a Proxy/Firewall server which runs on a single Windows 95 or Windows NT machine, and allows you to share a single Internet connection (ISDN, Modem, Ethernet, etc.) with your entire network. Although WinGate runs on one Win95 or NT machine, it can be accessed from nearly any TCP/IP-enabled workstation, including Windows for Workgroups, Macintosh, and others. WinGate supports a large number of powerful options, including HTTP caching, the GateKeeper Remote Control Service (PRO version only), accounting, auditing, logging, policies and rights, rules-based filtering, dial-on-demand, and support for web browsing, ftp transfers, usenet news, email, Real Audio, and much much more. To Install WinGate 2.0, simply unzip this installation file, and then run the install program file contained within. WinGate 2.0 is currently a combination of Freeware and Commercial application. WinGate is free for small networks (those with two machines, one including the WinGate server) and must be registered if more machines need to access the Internet via the WinGate server. WinGate does NOT require a dedicated machine to run. These WinGate installation files may be distributed freely. Extensive help for WinGate 2.0 (and the ability to register the software securely) can be found at the WinGate home page, which offers a user-to-user conferencing system for both registered and unregistered users, a large number of help files, online documentation, and more.
