Introduction
============

This read1st file, included with zip file packages of the TweakDUN 
self-installing exe, is an abbreviated version of the readme.txt file 
installed with the program.  We suggest you read that file for 
complete program information, by clicking on the shortcut created 
in the programs menu.

This latest version of the TweakDUN utility offers the user a number 
of useful functions... the ability to change various Windows Registry 
settings to enhance data transfer rates. The registered version also 
includes an MTU Search which can aid in determining the MTU setting 
between you and your local provider.  It also permits the user 
to configure a local hosts file to speed up Domain Name searches. 
The registered version of TweakDUN 2.1 also features an internet 
update feature which will automatically find out if an updated version
is available, download it and install it.

TweakDUN 2.1 supports all language versions of Windows 95/98/NT4.


Installation
============

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!!!

This program requires the latest Microsoft Visual Basic 5.0 Runtimes. 
Download locations for these files are listed at:

Please make sure VB5 Runtimes are installed *BEFORE* you try to 
install Tweakdun. Just doubleclick on the self-installing vb5 file 
to update/install all the latest runtime dll files from Microsoft. 
These will be useful for many other new programs as well.

NOTE:  If you are running Windows 98, you will not need to install 
the vb5 Runtimes.  They are included with Win98.

ALSO:  you may be prompted to reboot during the runtimes installation 
process and required to run the installation a second time after your 
system reboots. This is often necessary to update the ole automation 
dll files that may be in use at the time.

It is not necessary to first uninstall your previous version of 
TweakDUN, registered or unregistered.  This new version will 
overwrite any previous installations. 

The TweakDUN installation will install the following files to your 
hard drive in the TweakDUN directory:

Tweakdun.exe
Tweakdun.hlp
Tweakdun.cnt
Sample.twk
Tdupdate.exe
readme.txt
install.log
unwise.exe

These files will be installed to your windows system directory:
comdlg32.ocx
msinet.ocx


A TweakDUN folder will be created in C:\Windows\Program Files 
and shortcuts will be placed in the Programs menu. 


Uninstallation
==============
Complete instructions for uninstalling this program are contained 
in the readme.txt file installed with this program


Registration
============
This is the shareware version of TweakDUN 2.1 and is intended 
for evaluation purposes only.  If you decide to keep it, you 
must register.  Full registration particulars are contained in 
the readme.txt file installed with this program.
