--------------- SaverButton 1.0a ----------------- This is a minor upgrade of our Windows utility SaverButton, version 1.0a. Comparing to previous version (1.0), this version added Always-On-Top option which will allow the icon to stay on top all the time. The setting will be saved once you terminate the program (saverbtn.ini in your Windows directory). This version of SaverButton is still free of any charges. Enjoy it. ------------------ README.TXT -------------------- SaverButton is a tiny Windows(TM) program to activate or inactivate Windows screen saver with only a mouse double-click. This program is developped by Ping Huang and James Zheng and is distributed free of any charge. The program is about 9 KB in file size and requires less than 10 KB while running. There are already a few similar programs around, but most of them require you to move your mouse cursor to and stay in certain areas on your desktop screen to activate or inactivate the screen saver. It is kind of anonying if one can not use the mouse afterward. That's why we have developed this small program. While SaverButton is running, you can activate Windows screen saver immediately by double-clicking the program icon with your left mouse button (or switch to it using Alt-Tab keys or Task list). To inactivate Windows screen saver (preventing it kicking in), double-click the program icon with your right mouse button. The text underlying the icon will indicate whether the screen saver is active or inactive. --- INSTALLATION --- The program is mostly useful when it is loaded every time Windows starts. To have Windows load SaverButton during the startup automatically, follow the steps below: (1) Copy the program (Saverbtn.exe) to any directory on your hard disk; (2) Open win.ini located in your Windows directory using a text editor such as Windows Notepad; (3) Find the line with "Load= xxxx" and append "fullpath\saverbtn.exe" to it, here "fullpath" is the full pathname where saverbtn.exe is located (e.g. c:\saverbtn\saverbtn.exe); (4) Restart your Windows. Alternatively, if you are using Windows 3.1, you can add saverbtn.exe to your STARTUP group. To do this: (1) Run File Manager and find saverbtn.exe; (2) Drag saverbtn.exe to STARTUP group in Program Manager. For more information, please check your Windows manual. ---------------------------------------------------------- This program is provided free of any charges with the conditions that (1) no warranty of any kinds is provided, (2) it is not for re-sale, and (3) use of this program is at your own risk and authors decline any responsibilities for any possible damages that may occur during the use of this program.
