Winsock WRSHD Remote Shell Daemon 1.6 Copyright 1994 Denicomp Systems All rights reserved Winsock RSHD is the Windows Sockets version of the Unix Remote Shell Daemon. It accepts requests from remote hosts (Unix or other PC's) via the standard "rsh" command and executes them on the PC running Winsock RSHD. It also allows file copying to and from the PC via the standard "rcp" command. NOTE: To continue, you must have the file VBRUN300.DLL installed on your system. This file must be in a directory included in your PATH environment variable. This file is NOT included with Winsock RSHD. It can be obtained from a number of BBS systems and online services. If you cannot obtain it, please contact Denicomp Systems. INSTALLATION THROUGH WINDOWS ---------------------------- To experiment with Winsock RSHD, use PKUNZIP to uncompress the distribution file. Then use File/Run from the Windows Program Manager menu. Enter the drive and directory name that contains the uncompressed files, followed by "SETUP". For example, if you uncompressed Winsock RSHD into the directory C:\RSHD, type C:\RSHD\SETUP. Select a target drive and directory to install to and click on OK. It should NOT be the same directory in which you uncompressed the distribution file. Winsock RSHD by default will be installed in the C:\WRSHD directory. You can specify a different directory if you wish. The Winsock RSHD group will be created. Icons will be in this group for Winsock RSHD, the Winsock RSHD Configuration program, and with options to view/print the order form and the manual for using Winsock RSHD. INSTALLING WINSOCK RSHD MANUALLY -------------------------------- You can install Winsock RSHD manually instead of using the automatic Windows installation program. To do this, you need to copy a few files to your \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory and set up two icons in a program group using the Windows Program Manager. None of the files in the distribution are compressed. Copy the following files to the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory: WRSHDSK.DLL THREED.VBX INIDATA.VBX Then, using the Windows Program Manager, create a program group named "Winsock RSHD". In it, create two program groups: "Winsock RSHD" and "Winsock RSHD Configuration". The command lines are: Winsock RSHD: \WRSHD\WRSHD.EXE Winsock RSHD Configuration: \WRSHD\WRSHDCFG.EXE Subtitute the proper directory for each. These are the only two required icons. No other programs in the distribution are directly executable from the Program Manager - they are used internally by Winsock RSHD.
