INSTALLING HELP EDITOR 2.0 FOR WINDOWS ------------------------------------------ Installing Help Editor 2.0 for Windows is simple. If you got your copy of the program as an archive (.zip file), first open the archive to a diskette or a temporary directory on your hard drive. Start Windows, and from the Program Manager File menu choose Run. Then, enter the path to the installation program, for example "a:\install", if you opened the archive to a diskette. Follow the instrcutions on your screen. Troubleshooting ---------------- If you have difficulties with Install, try to close other applications running at the same time. Also, check that your copy of Help Editor is the original (see files.lst file). If Install cannot create a Program Manager group for Help Editor, you might already have the maximum number of groups (40) created. Delete a group, and try Install again. If you get the message similar to "Could not execute install-helper utility. Please read `install.txt' for futher details.", you have to edit the Help Compiler PIF file (hc31.pif) manually. From the Main group in Program Manager, start PIF Editor. From the PIF Editor File menu, choose Open, and navigate to the Help Compiler PIF file. Then change the Program Filename path to the path to which you installed Help Editor.
