This is a straight clip from my Komposti Homepage, http://www.netti.fi/~apari/komposti.htm Please visit there, and mail to: apari@online.tietokone.fi READ THE END OF THIS MESSAGE! When you have read this, I suppose that you are quite "familiar" with the Komposti. You are not a Kompostori, but at least you are "in". It's fashionable to know what is Komposti, and after reading this, you will know a lot more!! Let us begin. 1. What is Komposti? 2. Who found Komposti, when and why? 3. History of the Komposti 4. The Komposti Wars 5. What is Kompostori? 6. Some famous Kompostori:s 7. Komposti Terminology 8. The Komposti Unions 9. What do They talk about in Komposti? 10. Komposti Gallery 11. Other stuff 1. What is Komposti? Komposti is just one "plain" message area in Finland's biggest and greatest BBS, MBnet, which is made for readers of MikroBitti, best computer magazine in Finland. Komposti means Compost in english. MBnet uses PCBoard in their BBS, and the magical area number for Komposti is 80. Precisely 80, not even a number under or above it. Komposti, is also biggest area (not including e-mail or private mail areas) of them all, with over 41000 messages. You can join Komposti quite easily, just order MikroBitti, or call in MBnet through pay-numbers. Details in MikroBitti's HomePages. 2. Who found Komposti, when and why? It is not in knowledge who "found" Komposti. MBnet needed a Chit-Chat -area, and of course, a good name for it. Nobody knows why, but now it's Komposti. Komposti was found in summer '95. 3. History of the Komposti At first, Komposti was just area for it's name, a compost, dumpster, whatever. The moderators and SysOp:s and other upkeep of the MBnet just threw all the trash messages there, and basically nobody read it. There, however, was some writers, who wrote jokes etc. stuff there, because back then MBnet had no Jokes -area (it has now). Back then was nothing. But then. A little bit after its born, there came some message writers to the Komposti. At first, they just talked nonsense, but soon topics became "tougher". First "official" Komposti -message was about "Kettutytöt" or something that way. (Kettutytöt are girls in Finland, who let some fur animals out from their cages, and these animals died for hunger and cold.) The writer was known as Ville Hautakangas, who used the alias called "Hautis". So, people like Hannu Örn, Mika Boström, Antti Tähtinen and that kind just started to chat about kettutytöt. Others came to see "what's going on", and stayed there. And so began the great Komposti story... 4. The Komposti Wars In August 1995 some Komposti writers started to talk about 2nd. World War. Or, actually, what would have happen if something had been different, and some flaming about Stalin's and Hitler's tactics. Some people said that Russians would have won if so-and-so and other talked 'bout Germany or USA or something. This flaming and long conversation is nowadays called 1st. Komposti War. In November-December 1995 someone said something about religion and evolution theory. Some guys, like Ilmari Karimies, Timo Tarvonen and Sami Helminen were in the side of the religion and Bible's theory, while almost all the "others" were in the side of the Evolution Theory. Here begun the very flaming 2nd. Komposti war, which is still flaming, altough not at all so big as in winter-spring. Nowadays just a few people talk with Timo Tarvonen, which is the only one bible-theory defender left nowadays. 5. What is Kompostori? Kompostori (Compostor in engl.) is a person, who is fascinating and active Komposti writer. That means a couple of hundred written messages, which have to be quite good ones somehow. In shortly, Kompostori is a person, who writes in Komposti. And "nothing more". 6. Some famous Kompostori:s I have listed some Kompostoris, who are quite well-known and respected (or hated or something) in the Komposti. So if sometimes you face some of these people, treat them with respect: they are from Komposti! :-) These people are the famous Recent Kompostori:s, not the Old Ones. Here are the names: Ville Hautakangas, absolutely most famous of them all. Hautis (his alias) was born in the Big Komposti Bang, and has written hundreds, or thousands of quality messages covered with humor etc. Jenni Alanen, only female Kompostori currently in the Komposti (and perhaps that's why so popular ;) ). She also writes hilarious and brilliant-quality messages, like Hautis, but not too often :-( Her alias is "Gabe", but don't call her that IRL!! ;-) Aleksi Huittinen. He is also one of the oldest writers. A nice and humorous man, who often talks seriously, and properly. And well, too. Simo Porola is the ONLY Kompostori, who has no permit to write messages anymore. SysOp's didn't like his style, I presume.. ;) He wrote satanic, nazistic worshiful unproper messages containing up-side-down -crosses and nazi-symbols. (Of course not-seriously!) His messages were very .. well, funny, in their way. Other Kompostori's are making address to get him back. Timo Tarvonen, Ilmari Karimies and Sami Helminen were/are Kompostoris, who believe in God's word clearly and frankly. And this attitude made them quite popular, when others asked questions about bible and everything related to religion. And Sami Helminen first used the legendary phrase: "Ps. Jos viestisi eivät ole asiallisia, en jaksa vastata niihin" which is in english "Ps. If your messages aren't appropriate, I won't answer them" or something that way. 2 of them (IK and SH) are gone nowadays, only TT is left. Tuukka Välimaa. Normal Kompostori is understanding and stretching. Normal one understands gays and lesbians. But Välimaa won't. He's strictly against gays, lesbians and un-patriotic people. He likes to tell his opinions, so everyone are against him. Not too loud, but in the name of a good conversation. He is a person, for sure! Risto Saarelma or Graerth is one of the persons. He's mostly interested in torturing, blood and that sort of things (not really, I guess ;) ). He's just too.. .. weird, so everyone likes him. When you need to torture something, just and He will come. Remember to just whisper his name. There are also lots of famous Kompostoris, but you'll manage a bit when you know who these people are. Other names are like Olli Jokinen, Paul Pekkarinen, Hannu Kauppinen, Jussi Sulopuisto, Eino Palin, Antti Tähtinen, Matti Mykkänen, Jouni Heikniemi (one of the SysOp's),Riku Neuvonen, Arto Klami, and me . OK, so, I forgot lots of names here, but I include more sometimes later. 7. Komposti Terminology When you enter the Komposti, you might see some weird terms. Here are what they mean: Hautis = Ville Hautakangas. See above. Gabe = Jenni Alanen. See above. At = Antti Tähtinen. Also a quite well-known Kompostori. tjsp. = This is a Komposti acronyme. It means "tai jotakin sinne päin" or in english "or something that way" Laama = Lame(r). Very poor or miserable being. (Pikku)-eLiTe = eLiTe-D0D. We hate them in Komposti. If you are an eLiTe, do not come to Komposti! Tosi Guru = Real Guru. A true, higher being, with unbeliavebly high IQ and wise. Great being, over all and everything! Kompostori = I already told you that! Message writer. PBBS = Also known as Pelit BBS, Pelitpurkki, Peltipurkki etc. Other BBS in Finland, quite big and, well, rotten? KompostiBall = a game of Komposti, with bones and blood and all.. Moderaato = a moderator of the Komposti. 8. The Komposti Unions Komposti is a big and active place, with over 400 msgs./day -speed growing area (actually Komposti is a level, not an area). In Komposti, there is anything you could possibly need. Also a big set of different unions. Some union names are ACP, AACP, AURY, KISS, SKITSO, KTJ, and SNB. There are many others. Some of the unions are against something, some are behind something, some are against some unions adn some just are. ACP is against commercial stuff, AACP is against ACP. AURY is against school sports, KISS is very, umm, weird union. SKITSO reminds KISS, somehow. KTJ is an organization for terrorists, and SNB is a Komposti Band (I play T-Harpsichord, and have background vocals!). There is also NL, an union for those, who are against unions in generally! Basically, there are unions for everybody! If you want to, you can even make your OWN union! Komposti is free world. 9. What do they talk about in Komposti? Well, almost about everything. Today, when I got my QWK from MBnet, topics were: gays and perverts (Välimaa conversation), about what-have-you-got-in-your-wallet, get Porola back, milk/juices, some novels, chit-chat, religion, and lots of more. They talk about EVERYTHING, believe it or not. 10. Komposti Gallery This is not available, 'cause this is a TEXT FILE. Visit http://www.netti.fi/~apari/komposti.htm for more info. 11. Other stuff.
