-------------------------------------------------------------- - This is a basic explanation of how to use the text display - - programs created by BigText v2.3 - -------------------------------------------------------------- - USAGE - From the DOS prompt enter the program's name then press the enter key to run it. If you get a message "Cannot execute . . ." or "Out of memory" then unload other programs like TSR's from memory to make more memory available. If you have a colour monitor you can select to use your favourite screen colours by entering a number as command line parameter in the range of 0..18 . See the program COLOURS.EXE for a display of the different colour combinations available to you. For example, text_viewer_name 9 will select colour set 9 Alternatively, select colours from within the text viewing program by pressing Alt-C as described below. From within the viewer program: Press Alt-C to toggle between different sets of screen colours. (only works on colour screens) Page Up and Page Down keys to move up and down by the screen full. Up and Down arrows to scroll by the line. Left and right arrows to scroll left and right by the character. Tab and shift-Tab to scroll left and right in jumps of eight. Press "M", or F10, or Esc to return to the main menu (if present). Press "I" for an information screen. Press "T" to send the text to a text file on disk. (if enabled) - you can select either current section, the entire manuscript, or the just the screen. Press "P" to print text. (if enabled) (print the current section, entire manuscript, or the screen) Press "F" to find text. (either globally, or restricted to current section) Press "X" to execute a program that is described on the screen. If there is more than one program to execute you will be prompted to select a program with a highlight bar. In the latter case, use the arrow keys to select, then press Enter to execute.
