1. Introduction

   This document introduces the developer information package for
   Creative Lab's latest sound card, the Sound Blaster AWE32.

   This developer information package allows you to develop your own
   applications/drivers that will fully tap the capabilities of the SB
   AWE32. You will get a set full featured libraries based on MIDI
   messages, and a suite of APIs that allow you to exploit the
   possibilities of downloading sound samples using with the on-board
   DRAM.

   This package is divided into three sections dealing with programming
   the SB AWE32 under DOS (both real and protected mode), and under
   Windows. You will also learn how to control the EMU8000 chip onboard
   the SB AWE32 via MIDI non registered parameter number.

   And best of all, this developer information package is FREE !


2. Files in this package.

   There are 7 files included in this package:

       README.TXT  -  This file
       ADIP01.ZIP  -  DOS Real mode libraries
       ADIP02.ZIP  -  DOS Protected mode library and sample program
       ADIP03.ZIP  -  Windows import library, latest Windows drivers,
                      and sample program
       ADIPLJ.ZIP  -  Documentation in PCL5 raw dump for HP LaserJet
                      printers
       ADIPPS.ZIP  -  Documentation in Encapsulated PostScript format

   To install the package, unpack the distribution files with directory
   option. For example,

              MD C:\ADIP
              PKUNZIP -D -O ADIP01.ZIP C:\ADIP
              PKUNZIP -D -O ADIP02.ZIP C:\ADIP
              PKUNZIP -D -O ADIP03.ZIP C:\ADIP
              PKUNZIP -D -O ADIPLJ.ZIP C:\ADIP

   To ensure integrity of document content, we can not distribute an
   editable version of the document. We distribute the document in 2
   print image files: ADIPDOC.PCL and ADIPDOC.PS. ADIPDOC.PCL is a PCL5
   raw dump file for HP LaserJet printers and ADIPDOC.PS is an EPS file
   for PostScript printers. Copy the image file to a printer to print
   the document. For example,

              COPY /B ADIPDOC.PCL PRN
          or
              COPY /B ADIPDOC.PS PRN
