PRODUCT : Resource Workshop NUMBER : 1377 VERSION : 1.x OS : WIN DATE : October 25, 1993 PAGE : 1/2 TITLE : Selecting fonts in RW, when using the new BWCC.DLL When Resource Workshop (RW) is used with the newest versions of BWCC.DLL (dated after March 9 1992), you may see a problem when you try to select a different font for your bitmaps, icons, and dialogs. Specifically, the sample font on the bottom of the Font Select dialog does not dynamically change when another font, size, or style is selected. This is a known problem with RW and can easily be remedied by changing a resource attribute. This document will explain how to patch your copy of RW to fix this display problem. 1. Make a copy of the file WORKSHOP.EXE, located in your BIN directory. Name the copy WORKNEW.EXE, for example. This file is the main module of RW, and contains the resource you need to change. 2. Run RW, and load the file WORKNEW.EXE. 3. Open the dialog resource "20000" located in the DIALOG section in the WORKNEW.EXE project window. 4. Click once on the alphabet string to highlight the static text, Control ID 108. Then hit or to bring up the Generic Control Style dialog. 5. Change the Class from "STATIC" to "BORSTATIC" and press OK. 6. Close the Dialog Editor, save the project WORKNEW.EXE, and exit RW. 7. Run the program WORKNEW.EXE and invoke the bitmap, icon, or dialog editor. If you're using the bitmap or icon editor, select Text | Fonts on the menu to bring up the Font Select dialog. If you're using the dialog editor, doubleclick on the new dialog caption and select Fonts. 8. If you did the previous steps correctly, you should see the alphabet string change appearance as you select a different Face Name, Size, or Style. If the string does not change, the previous steps were not done correctly. After you've verified that the steps were done correctly, delete WORKSHOP.EXE or rename it to WORKSHOP.BAK. Then rename WORKNEW.EXE to WORKSHOP.EXE.
