PLICON (VERSION 1.0) Copyright (c) 1995, Doug Boling ------------------------------------------------------------------------- First Published in PC Magazine January 24, 1995 (Utilities) ------------------------------------------------------------------------- PLICON by Douglas Boling PURPOSE: PLICON gives you control over the position of minimized icons on the desktop. Icons can be placed along the left or right sides of the screen or across the top or bottom. SETUP: To install PLICON, simply copy the files PLICON.EXE and PLIDLL.DLL to a directory on your hard disk. Launch PLICON by selecting the File|Run menu item in Program Manager. After the PLICON window is displayed, click on the Install button to install PLICON. Once installed, PLICON can be controlled through the PLICON applet in the Control Panel. PLICON can be uninstalled by opening the Control Panel applet and clicking on the Uninstall button and then deleting the PLICON.EXE and PLIDLL.DLL files. REMARKS: The PLICON Control Panel applet window is simple but effective. The left side of the window contains four option buttons that let you select which side of the window to place your icons in. Along the right side of the window are a set of buttons: Close, About, Enable, and Uninstall. Clicking the Enable button prompts PLICON to leap into action, moving the currently iconized windows to the appropriate side of the screen. Once PLICON is enabled, newly minimized windows will be placed next to the other icons on the proper side of the screen. Also, when PLICON is enabled, the text of the Enable button changes to Disable. Clicking on the Disable button disables PLICON and causes the icons to return to their traditional positions along the bottom of the screen. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Douglas Boling is a contributing editor of PC Magazine. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
