You can position your fingers anywhere on the computer "fingerboard", and Chord Magic will tell you what chord you're playing. Because each string displays which component of the chord it is, making slight alterations to chords is child's play. If you want to find a particular chord, C.M. lets you select from a list of hundreds of chords and finds all possible variations of that chord on the fingerboard (by default, C.M. finds 1225 variations on E major!). Chord Magic makes using non-standard tunings a snap too; all features work with any tuning. Whereas most chord books list chords only for your standard EADGBE tuning, C.M. is supplied with several built-in tunings (and more are easily configurable). After you include complete configuration control, superimposed scales, tablature output, and other features and Chord Magic is a guitar player's constant companion. System Requirements: IBM PC or compatible computer 256K minimum RAM Monochrome, CGA, EGA/VGA, or compatible video adaptor DOS 3.3 or better (Optional equipment: Mouse) SHAREWARE ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ Chord Magic is a shareware program. Just use the arrows or the mouse to position your "fingers" on the fretboard, and CM will tell you what chord you are "playing". Strings can be muted by pressing 'X', or click- ing on the nut. If the chords are with a capo, press / or \ to set the capo fret. Tab notation can also be entered; e.g. for a D chord, type 2ÄÙ3ÄÙ2ÄÙ0ÄÙXÄÙX . CM displays the chords that are matches in the order it thinks is most likely. To change the root for the scale under Chord(s), use [ or ]. To reset press '.' * FINDING CHORDS This is also easy. Press F to find a particular chord, then pick the root and variation. CM will find and sort a large chord list. CM places you on the chord in the list closest to your current fingering (allowing you to guess or verify a chord). Use PgUp/PgDn to show more chords. Ctrl+Home/End moves to the first/last entry. Use K to show/find all chords in a key (as opposed to the root). * OTHER FEATURES Using T, you can select alternate tunings or create your own. All features work equally well with any tuning. S will superimpose a scale, C can add/edit more chord spellings and D will dump the cur- rent (and following) chord(s) into an ASCII file in TAB notation.
