About SCASM 1.45 ---------------- Installation: ------------- If you are using SCASM as a stand allone programm copy all the files in any subdirectory you want (i.e. C:\SCASM or C:\FSTOOLS). This version of SCASM does not require any specific subdirectory name. If you need SCASM only for the AIRPORT programm please look into the AIRPORT manual. If I remember right you should copy SCASM.EXE into the \AIRPORT\BIN directory. Installation of the examples (found in SCXMPL.ZIP): Copy all files in your working directory. Also copy the file JNTREE.R8 into your \fltsim\texture directory and the files SCASMX1.STN and SCASMX2.STN into your \fltsim5\pilots directory. To compile the example you may enter: SCASM example.txt example.bgl copy example.bgl \fltsim5\scenery or: SCASM example.txt c:\fltsim5\scenery\example.bgl you may create a batch file to do this. SCASM version history: ---------------------- 0.8 First uploaded version 0.9 Some features added (auto vector calculation for VectoJump), documentation corrected and completed. 1.0 Some minor improvements and dynamic section added. More example macros included. 1.1 VOR/ILS bug fixed 1.2 ATIS text bug fixed 1.25 some improvements in text handling 1.27 some corrections for the AIRPORT programm and in the docu 1.40 some FS5.1 specific instructions added 1.45 some minor updates, required for AIRPORT 1.20 or later Please note, this programm is not a comercial product. It was created by an FS fan by the "trial and error" methode and using information from many other FS5 fans. Since there is no official information about the BGL file format available for hobby programmers, I cannot guarantee that all instructions are translated correctly. If you have some trouble with any original Microsoft or BAO sceneries, which causes you to contact their user support, please make sure the problems have nothing to do with your "home brewed scenery". You can test this by removing/renaming your files from the related scenery directory. This tool and the examples are freeware and and can be used on a non-comercial base. I do not mind hobby scenery designers distributing their sceneries as shareware. The example collection includes Jan Nielsen's file JNTREE3.R8 (with his permission). Since this file is a picture it is copyrighted material as SCASM too. Credits: -------- Many thanks to the all the Flight Simulator fans who provided me with all sort of information and new ideas or assisted in testing. I owe special thanks to the following persons: Jan Nielsen (CIS 100044.1631) who gave me many good ideas and who helped me to find out some secrets of the BGL file format. He also designed the beautiful pear tree macro. Hermann Lange (CIS 100326.142) who decoded the traffic flags in the Pattern instruction (dynamic sect). Maurizio M. Gavioli, many thanks to him. Bert Vierstra, information, feedback, ideas Jose' Carlos Monteiro, aviation information, feedback and new PAPI macro Carlos Coimbra, feedback, bug detection, new PAPI macro Andreas Kozma, testing and feedback Konstantin Kukushkin Please note: ------------ Some SCASM users started to send me large source files which they have trouble with. Since I only have an old 2400 bps modem this blocks my phone line for a long time. I am only a hobby programmer and I can work on SCASM only in my spare time. Therefore I will delete all unanounced/unrequested e-mail in my mailbox exceeding 10kb without reading it! Recently I got some encoded messages (not uuencoded) from T-online.de which I cannot read. Please ensure to send only plain ASCII text. ALso I am not the author of of the AIRPORT programm package. So please do not send me any questions related to this programm. Of course I like to discuss general scenery design problems and interesting observations, but please understand I do not have the time to search for bugs in tons of foreign source files.
