SHAREWARE AGREEMENT: ==================== The program Tube DataBase III, which will be called TDB3 throughout this document, and the program documentation were written by Jim Johnson and are (C) Copyright 1993. TDB3 is written in Borlands Turbo Pascal Version 7.0 and uses program code that was developed solely by it author. You are granted a limited license to use this program for a period of 30 days free of charge, after which you are required to register your copy of the program. This limited license also grants you permission to copy and distribute TDB3 and the documentation file only in it's original unmodified form. The Author Jim Johnson, or anyone associated with JMJ Software shall not be held liable or responsible for any damage or damages that may occur by your use of this program including but not limited to, the loss of data, loss of wages, damage to other computer software or hardware, or hardware that you repair with any of the information you obtain from this program or its data files. JMJ Software nor Jim Johnson make and warranty either expressed or implied as to the fitness or quality of this program or its data. Updated November 1993. By: JMJ Software. The Main Menu. ============== The main menu will present you with a list of six options as listed below. Each option of the menu is detailed further on in the documentation. A - Add a new Tube to the Database C - Cross Reference a Tube D - Delete a Tube from the Database I - Information of this Program P - Print a Tube Cross Reference X - Exit to DOS A - Add a Tube. =============== Choosing the option 'A' from the main menu will allow you to add a vaccum tube to the cross reference database. You will be prompted to enter the tube number, and the program will check the database for the existance of the tube. If found you will be told it is in the database and told how many substitution entries it has. You will then be asked if you want to enter additional substitute data. Entering additional or new tube data you will be asked for the substitute numbers and given a prompt that looks like this: Substitute #: ²²²²²²²²²²²² To halt entering substitute data enter a '*' and press return. You will then be shown the data you just typed in, and asked to confirm saving it to the main data file. C - Cross Reference a Tube. =========================== Cross Referencing a tube consists of entering the vaccum tube number that you would like the substitution information for. The program will then scan through the data file and if the tube is found will be displayed on the screen. Example: Tube Number: 6LQ6 Substitute: 6JE6C Substitute: 6JM6 PRESS RETURN D - Delete a Tube. ================== CAUTION - Deleting a tube from the database is irreversable! You can not un-delete a tubes information once you have deleted it. You will have to re-enter it with the Add a Tube option. Deleting a Tube from the database is straight forward. You will be asked to supply the tube number you want to delete, and the program will scan the data file for it. If found you will be informed of how many entries will be deleted along with it. You will then be prompted to confirm the operation. Anything but 'Y' will keep the data file intact. Example: Tube Number: 6LQ6 6LQ6 will be deleted along with 2 entries. Delete this information ? 6LQ6 and 2 entries have been deleted. PRESS RETURN I - Information on this Program. ================================ The information screen will basically show you a brief run down on the programs shareware license and other various information. - Page 3 - Tube DataBase III program Documentation. P - Print a Tube Cross Reference. ================================= This option is exactly like Cross Referencing a tube, except that the output is directed to your printer. Be sure you turn your printer on. Printing a Tube Cross Reference consists of entering the vaccum tube number that you would like the substitution information for. The program will then scan through the data file and if the tube is found will be printed on the printer. When you have the data you need press return and you will be taked back to the main menu. Example: Tube Number: 6LQ6 The information will also be displayed on your monitor. Substitute: 6JE6C Substitute: 6JM6 PRESS RETURN X - Exit to DOS. ================ Terminates the programs execution and returns you to the DOS prompt. NOTES: ====== The datafiles to this program are growing all the time with new substitution infromation.
