It also demonstrates making a simple 3D movie. Your VeriScope kit VeriScope comes to you in a doubly packaged software and documentation kit containing the following items: o VeriScope Program Disk o VeriScope Sample Disk o VeriScope User Guide (this document) o 3D Glasses o VeriScope Licence Agreement o VeriScope Owners Registration Card On receiving your kit, if any of these items are damaged or missing, please contact your VeriScope distributor immediately. The 3D glasses are to be worn only while stereoviewing the VeriScope display. They are not sunglasses. Any information marked on the frame relates to the frame only. The red and blue optical filters have a scratch-resistant coating, but treat them with care. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight. They come protected by white plastic film, which you should remove before use. In the event of later damage or loss, you can purchase replacement glasses from your VeriScope distributor. If you normally wear corrective glasses, wear the 3D glasses over these. Adjust the ear-rests if necessary to obtain a comfortable fit. VeriScope disks are 3.5 High Density floppies in PC format. By breaking the seal on the disk packaging you accept the stated terms of your VeriScope users license. Remove the disks and make a labelled copy of each before installing the software. Use these copies as your working disks and store the originals in case you need to recover from data loss. Installing VeriScope Start your computer and create a new directory for VeriScope on your hard disk, using any name you like. For example, you can create a directory VSCOPE by typing the following command (shown in bold) following your DOS prompt: DOSprompt> MD VSCOPE (press ENTER to execute DOS commands) Now make this new directory your default directory by entering the command: DOSprompt> CD VSCOPE Insert the disk labelled VeriScopeProgramDisk in the drive you want to use for installation and close the drive door. To install the program, copy the contents of the disk to your new directory. For example, if installing from drive A, enter the command: DOSprompt> COPY A:*.* Now install the supplied examples. These files are in VeriScopes own MOD file format on the disk labelled VeriScope SampleDisk. Insert this disk in the installation drive and close the drive door. Copy its contents to your new directory by entering the same command: DOSprompt> COPY A:*.* The VeriScope software is now fully installed on your computer. Programs and examples Your installation directory now contains the following items: Programs o VeriScope for PC with co-processor VSCOPE.EXE o VeriScope for PC without co-processor VSCOPN87.EXE o VeriScope Movie Player PLAYMOV.EXE Example 3D models o Robot Arm ARM.MOD o Robot Finger Link FINGBONE.MOD o Room with Computer Desk DESK.MOD o VeriScope Logo VLOGO.MOD o House HOUSE.MOD o Perfume Bottle Top BOT_TOP.MOD o Car Wheel WHEEL.MOD o Primitive Scene OBJECTS.MOD INTRO.MOV contains the Pearson Interface logo movie played when VeriScope starts up. You can substitute your own movie with this name to make your own starting show. Demonstrating VeriScope This section shows you how to start VeriScope and quickly make a short fly-through movie of a 3D robot arm. It takes only 5 minutes. (If youre not sure how to operate menus using a mouse, first consult Chapter 5. If VeriScope wont start, refer to Startup problems in Chapter 4.). When you have VeriScope installed and are in the installation directory, waiting at a DOS prompt, carry out the procedure listed overleaf.
